[SOLVED] 820-00164 doesn't stay on battery but charges

Hi,

I've got that board which had a short on PPBUS_G3H.
One cap near the CPU was shorted. Found, replaced and it looked like everything was fine.

However I now have another issue... the battery is recognized and apparently charging but it doesn't stay on battery.

PPVBAT_G3H_CONN is 8.6V with the charger plugged but 1.4V when charger unplugged even after hours.
Battery is shown as being charged to 80% but still, 1.4V is getting out through PPVBAT_G3H_CONN

Any thoughts please?

I assume you have tried a new battery?
Just because the data lines are working on the battery it does not mean that the chip will allow the battery to send out power or that the fuses have not blown.

You nailed it!

I didn't the right battery type at the time so I couldn't check.

With a new battery it is working. So the short went pretty deep or it came from the battery who knows...
