RAM slot only accepting 1GB

Hi.

I guess already that this is pretty pointless of a post since it's a RAM slot but I would still like to know WHY this is happening...
Bottom slot works on 2GB or 4GB but top slot will beep unless it's got a 1GB only stick in it.... Data line would be my guess?

An one know exactly why?

Get a ram slot tester card from china and see what it does?
Would be interested too see. Id say if tis sandybridge or ivybridge maybe the memory controller on the CPU is dead.

If you dont want to wait i have a tester i havent had chance to use yet, and im only 10 minutes away
