820-00045 5.17v on PPDCIN_G3H

hello

i'm working on a 820-00045
the board looks pretty much ok
no liquid damage, doesn't seem like been tampered with before

but still, no power...
from reading around the board, i get this results..

On F4700 is 5.17v on both sides

PP3V3R3V0_AON is 3.3v

PP5V_S0 is 0v

PP3V3_S0 is 0.020v

i know that low voltage on PPDCIN_G3H is many times related to a short on PP3V3R3V0_AON caused by u4700
but in this case PP3V3R3V0_AON is present and resistance to ground is around 300 ohms.

any help would be appreciated..

thanks..

hi duke

PPBUS_G3H is present (8.6v)

the little led is glowing when connected...

but still, no PP5V_S0 or PP3V3_S0
and obviously no cpu_vcore..

hi

so after replacing u4700 i got all the rails..
ppdcin_g3h is 14.7v and got cpu vcore (1.7v)

after putting the board back to the machine i get no image on screen, no chime.. only feedback from the forcetouch trackpad when charger connecrted..
this is actually the machine from an older thread of mine, with a "new" board -
https://www.rossmanngroup.com/boards/forum/board-repair-troubleshooting/36673-820-00045-no-power

it's behaving the same as the original board of this machine, it gets cpu vcore but still dead...

also no response to smc reset \ pram reset...
on the oriignal board for this machine it was concluded as brain dead..
what are the odds that the second board intended for this machine was u4700 bad and than brain dead?
i'm a bit puzzled by this...

what else can cause this? bad keyboard\ trackpad ? bad screen? usb connector?
should this board chime with only one speaker connected when its OK?

thanks...

Audio jack board must be connected for it to chime. Get a USB-C to USB adapter and connect a mouse and see if it lights up.
