Hi Team:

Costumer reported slow charging; but on my side I've noticed that the board doesn't turn ON without the battery
And if the battery is plugged it first do like an attempt to start with fan spin then stop then start for real.
Test done with Official 85W charger

PPBUS_G3H: 12.56V
PP3V42_G3H: 3.470v
PPVRTC_G3H: 3.335V
S5:
PP5V_S5: 5.019V
PP3V3_S5: 3.335V
S4:
PP3V3_S4: 3.335V
PP3V3_SUS: 0V

PM_SLP_SUS_L: 3.334V
SMC_BATLOW_L:0V
SMC_ADAPTER_EN:3.450V

RTC:
SYSCLK_CLK32K_RTC: 32khz ok with 0.428V amplitude
RTC_RESET_L: 3.329V
PCH_SRTCRST_L: 3.329V
PCH_INTRUDER_L: 3.035V
PCH_INTVRMEN_L: 3.225V

Y5010: 20Mhz OK

R5040:98.8Ohms and PP3V3_S5 present OK on Pin 1

"PP3V3_SUS: 0V"
Are you sure?
Check why...

"SMC_BATLOW_L:0V"
PCH will not start with this value.
This is usually caused by incorrect charger; try another known good 85W charger.

You probably have SMC_BATLOW_L present, but missing PP3V3_SUS doesn't allow it to pass through Q5040.

BTW, R5040 must have 100K, not 100ohms.

How do you explain that the board is working with a battery and smc_batlow_l is present only with the battery. ....? No graphic issues. ... "so far"

Why don't you try to solve 3V3_SUS issue???
Check Q7820 area.

If GPU dies (not yet), you can still fix it on Intel graphics at the end...

Why don't you try to solve 3V3_SUS issue??? :
This is exactly what I'm trying, that's why I've reported higher that:
PM_SLP_SUS_L: 3.334V
SMC_BATLOW_L:0V

As at U7940 we need both voltages to generate PM_SUS_EN, that's why I'm focused on SMC_BATLOW_L.......
Am I wrong to think that way?
Knowing all that should I suspect the SMC?

It's OK we're humains.....no hay nada......
What do you mean by PM_BATLOW_L value????

PM_BATLOW_L is 0V with only the charger connected
PM_BATLOW_L value is 0V with only the battery connected
PM_BATLOW_L is 3.328V with both connected: of course in that case the board starts....
Resistance to ground for that rail 2 MOhms
In diode mode with the red probe to gnd: 0.519V

Anything else?

Yes it is, except that it's doing the same like with the battery: fan spins then stops for 2-5sec then start again but doesn't stop all that in full speed of course.....
are you thinking to something in particular? should I check all the sensors lines page 44?

It starts in SMC bypass without battery connected?
Is normal that fans spin to max.
Connect both battery and charger, then run proper ASD.

Runned the proper ASD: BAD BATTERY ( not official one......)

Can close the topic and mark it as SOLVED

Thanks
