820-00244 Prohibitory Sign

Hi all,

got a strange 12inch MacBook here.

Original issue was that it booted but to a flashing question mark. Narrowed this down to the Audio cable.

now it boots to the volume but slowly and then shows the prohibitory sign.

The IPD cable is also shorting US_G3H_TPAD_F to ground on F4800 and causes it not to boot at all.

so I have a new IPD cable on its way but my question is:

should the machine still boot to an OS even without the IPD trackpad and keyboard connected?

i know some of the MacBooks boot slow or don’t boot without a battery etc. Wondered if this is the similar?

thanks
Jamie

Damn! I was able to boot to a known good OS and into the recovery partition but niether of them can actually see the internal drive. Yet it attempts to boot to it on a normal boot up... very strange
