  • Macbook Pro Retina 820-3332 Instant Death after powered USB plugged in. PLEASE HELP!

    820-3332 is now dead, I get no light on the charger. The board does not increase in temp. I got 20v coming in from my 85w adapter and g3h is active at 3.42v,,. I am fairly new to this so any info given in dummy format would be much appreciated. someone mentioned the USB power rail but I cant seem to pin point.

    Post exact PPBUS_G3H voltage?
    Do you get 3V3_S5/SUS?

      Now i am getting PPBUS_G3H .721v and dropping.. meaning it drops numbers by the second. on 3v3_S5 i got 0.001v

        Post diode mode (red probe at ground) at L7030.
        Also for L7220/60 and the other coils.
        Check for short (or low value) to ground on USB power and data lines.

            Diode mode: L7030 0.0424v
            L7220 gives me a beep at 0.018v
            L7060 0.129v

                Are you sure it is not close to 0.400-0.450 instead???

                That is too low.
                I hope you've disconnected power when measured diode mode.
                Also allow 10-15s after power is removed.

                Post diode mode at pins 2/6 of U4600.

                      PP5V_S5: 0.040v

                      Doesn’t S5 need to work in order for s4 to turn on?

                        5V_S5 looks bad too.
                        Few things connected there.
                        Check again disconnecting trackpad.
                        Also check for short on 5V_SUS.
                        When you get 5V_S5, go for 5V_S4.

                        Don't forget, PPBUS_G3H is first required.

                            What about 5V_S5?
                            SMC_PM_G2_EN present?

                              Yes , I checked at Q5300 pin 4... it’s 12v sometimes 12.1
                              5v_s5 is now 0.116v
                              smc_pm_g2 is at .455v
