  • [SOLVED]820-2879 reboots halfway to OS X

Got this board today. Had no green light, some corrosion around 6990. Repaired the Onewire circuit and got green light.
When I now try to boot, the MBP reboots halfway through the loading process. It acts the same with both SATA and USB.

    ASD EFI shows no errors.

When I try to install from USB stick the loader bar goes to around two thirds and just hangs, tried both Yosemite and El Capitan.

Anyone seen this before? Bad MCP?

are you sure its hanging and not going really really slowly? If its having sensor issues the bar might be going really slowly

      Use only PC8500 RAM.

No sensor issues (according to the ASD), I'll try different RAM

Once again Duke you're the man. Strange how I have never experienced this before. I have refurbished over a 100 MacBooks and I have never seen this behavior.

You can use 1 stick of 8500 and the other can then be anything. Most MCP79/89 boards have this problem.
