2014 Macbook Pro retina No power button

OK, have a liquid damage 15" retina. the only thing wrong with it is the power button. Have any of you guys had any experience with fixing the power button circuit without just replacing the keyboard or top case.
I am still a rookie so I do not know if this is a stupid question. Just seems like a lot of extra work for just a power button.

Plug a working keyboard into the board. If it powers with the power button of the known working keyboard, change the keyboard. If it don't power from the known working keyboard power button, better look further at the board. Gotta love that "just for a power button"....... For sale we have a 2014 MacBook Pro Retina, immaculate condition, works perfectly but does not turn on ;)
