Hi guys,
fixed a water damaged computer for a customer seemed to be working before i sent it back out but the customer told me its was crashing to the your mac restarted from an error screen. i asked him to do a pram reset and after he said "The pram helped a little but i had to end up reinstalling mac os x. I also did disk repair. It fixed some applications starting up but chrome makes the mac restart sometimes. Even opening finder may make it crash"

Any ideas? i was thinking ram maybe? i have a new set i am going to try on it when he brings it back in. Just trying to get any idea of what it might be or where to look before he brings it back in.
thanks in advance
Nate

Replace C9560 with a normal size 330uF.
Also this has nothing to do with the liquid damage. It was doing this before so this guy is fucking with you, charge extra.

replaced the c9560 and everything was working great. what is the voltage for the 330uF? i'm going to buy some to have on hand instead of pulling from a donor board.

hey update, gave it back to the customer and the same the problem came back now but it took hours he said he was using it for school work with multiple applications open and now its doing it on word etc. is it possible that something could be causing it to go out ? also it was off a donor board, i should maybe buy a brand new one? thanks again

Did you replace it with the same capacitor or a normal sized one? To be clear, if you are using a tiny tantalum cap like the one that was there, you missed duke's advice. The capacitor Apple installs for C9560 is not suitable for this application. If you did not have to modify the board or use a jumper to fit the cap you placed, you didn't use the right cap. The cap you put there should be a 330UF that is bigger than the one that was there; not tantalum. Like this. http://www.mouser.com/Search/Produc...virtualkey66720000virtualkey667-EEF-LX0D331R4

haha, thanks Louis i did replace it with the same size... :D sorry my lack of knowledge, didn't fully understand that was what Duke meant. i did find the chip you just showed me in the link earlier. i'm going to order some right now & install it when they come in.
thanks for the clarification on that!

Thanks again. replaced it with a normal size one and everything is good! how did you find out that the original part they use is insufficient ?
