  • Data recovery for new models 2016+

Hi. Just got off the phone to a potential business customer who tell me there is a port somewhere on the new MacBooks to gain access to the SSD for data recovery... Is this right?

I have not looked at it yet. But looking at the 12" model there is none. Also the SSD requires many voltages, so the board needs to sort of power on. I doubt it will be that easy, but people who want their data will make up BS stories like this.

Apple sells AASP's a tool to recover data from these boards. I'll order it and post more details when I have it here.

            Just been sent this link:

            http://www.macworld.com/article/3144...-lifeline.html

Thing is, if a board is totally fucked that's it. Could just fix up an insurance write off board and have it there ready to slap the SSD onto, power up and pull off the data. I'm not so sure how many uses you would get from one board though.

Most certainly would like to hear more about that tool

Interesting, lets wait till China rips this one off.

I wonder what the GSX price is on this tool?

That is a very reasonable price. I'll see if I can order one here too.

Not unless you become an AASP, so never.

Probably will need you to log into GSX to use anyways.
