  • Hi there from Madrid, Spain.
I tried to fix my mid 2010 MBP A1286 by replacing the (in)famous capacitor and, as you, I broke the 2R2 coil. Do you know the specs of that coil? Not sure what the different numbers on the part mean, or is 2R2 all I need to look for when replacing it? I got ONE clean start after “repair” but it went off and won’t reboot now.
Thank you in advance for your support and best regards,
    Laurent
Hi there, how are you getting on with fixing this?
I have one too, with some similar problems and some others :) working through Louis' teaching resource now and his vids.
    before I try :)
So it's to see someone else fixing the same *old* machine,
Mine runs on High Sierra, care of DosDude,
Good luck, I'm following you so I can see how it goes.
    bye

Hi! Haven't done more since my forum post. Do you mean that you have the same problem that you replaced the cap but it still reads 0.3 V? Or that you are gearing up to replace the cap?

Thank you, it's my first try with logic board stuff. Hope I eventually get it! Good luck to you too.
