Is it possible to upgrade 00165/00164 to 16gb ram? I've been done 8gb but these days on newer os they are running pretty slow. I have a 4gb 00165that customer sold to me instead of fixing and wanted to upgrade to 16gb if possible. If it can which ram type do i need?
I don't have a good board to test on :( only donor board that a bunch of parts are taken off of. here are the diode values of j6100. pin 26 (mesa enable) is ground. i'm assuming this is a dead t2. have 2 questions. is it possible to be anything else besides t2? and second question is it...
just for an update on this case. i ordered a donor board and dioded tested all the pads comparing to the working board. found a reading that was off and found a resistor that was not to spec. replaced it along both chips and now have speakers. moral of the story is test all the lines :)
Just trying to understand here. if t2 was damaged wouldn't that stop the laptop from powering on? and second question. Since c6406 was short to ground (PPBUS_G3H_SPKRAMP_LEFT) wouldn't that have stopped power from going to t2?

Took a second look over the board & noticed u8295 getting hot. Removed the chip and Pin 5&6 were short (PP3v3_s0_left)
Used an infrared camera and sent 1.8v through the line and it led to C2991(PP3v3_TBT_X_S0). Removed the Cap but short is still present.
The USB gets power but no communication/activity.
None of the big CPU coils get voltage on them
There is USB Activity

No Voltage on Big coils
Cleaned up corrosion
Lifted U3906 removed corrosion.
With a new known good battery it takes 2-3A - cpu doesnt get hot...
