Hi all, I have another 820-00165 with no fan spin after liquid damage. Traces of liquid near SMC, U7701 and U3210.
Ultrasonic cleaned, jump wire from C3286 pin 1 to pin 18 of U3210 as the test point between them had nearly vanished.
U7701 removed and replaced as it looked bad and I couldn't...
It pisses me off that there are so many shitty companies out there, happy to steal peoples parts and shit like that. It baffles me how they stay in business for more than a few months.
Well it looks like I was a little lucky with this one. After removing and reballing the SMC, it now shows the magsafe and even fired up! All rails are there and seems to be fine. On to the next. Please mark this as solved as I'm assuming I can't do it.
I’ll check tomorrow. Removed the SMC to check for crap under it, but it looked fine. I’ll put it back on tomorrow and check SMC_RESET_L
There was a bit of corrosion near the SMC, one test point was fkd so had to jump it but nothing major. (This was all prior to posting) Not reflowed the SMC up...
Hi, I have another 00165 board that has had liquid damage. Cleaned and had magsafe light for a while but wouldn't spin the fan.
I left it for a few days while I repaired others, but when I came back to it, its back to no magsafe again.
PPBUS_G3H = 8.2v
PP3v42_G3H = 3.4v
PPBUS_S5_HS_COMP_ISNS...
Thanks for that. I went back and U1900, U6100 & U1950 connections didn't look great. Removed that and replaced the solder on all of them. J6100 looks perfect. Also fixed a broken GND TP behind U6100 (probably didn't need to) Anyway, it all fired up and works perfectly now. Thank you for your help
MacBook Air A1466 820-00165 liquid spill through the rear vent. Was powering up but no keyboard. Fuzz around SMC and trackpad connector ribbon but nothing major. Ultrasonic cleaned and replaced the ribbon. Now I get a Magsafe light and no fan spin, chime or display.
It does respond to SMC reset...
I ran ASD again but this time it passed :confused:
Its still getting really hot though and I have to blow extra air across the CPU and heatsink to get it to stay on. If I leave it to get really hot, it artefacts on the screen and crashes. But the fan still doesn't kick up.
U6100 wasn't ever...
Thanks for the replies.. The heatsink is certainly conducting the heat and the fan isn't ramping up at all. It will ramp up during a fan test though.
If I start it with the battery unplugged, its fine and then if I plug it in while its on, the heat on the CPU shoots up within 5-7 seconds.
This 3476 has had liquid damage and a couple of resistors replaced to get the I/O board USB to stop turning itself off. (Which is sorted)
I'm also getting issues when the battery is connected.
The CPU gets crazy hot even during ASD. Never gets a chance to load the OS.
I ran an air line over...
