N corrosion there. Only place was where the banana was pushing itself inside the computer aka DC-in board and thunderbolt ports. The thunderbolt ports got really damaged but the rest of the board looks new. I heating the SMC a little with some flux. No dice. Still same...
When I got this MBPr 13 in it could not charge. It had been lying vertically in a bag together with a rotten banana (or another fruit). Damage was heavily corrosion inside both thunderbolt ports. As there was no green/orange light and it could not charge I cleaned the banana off lightly with a...
If 24V not present at all it can be defective power supply.
If 24V present it can be the function cable preventing logic board enabling backlight by missing v-sync signal
Also check if 23-27V is going out the LED cable.
If no, check if some of the square inductors on top of the board (or...
Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. I have inspected it from the top and all pins are good. But maybe under the socket could be an issue. The history for this machine is that is has been working without any issues for several years but after the customer gave it to his son and the son started...
Yes i was using "Crucial Mac compatible DDR3L" modules. The same type I always use when making RAM upgrades to these models. The "working" CPU is from an exact same model where it is known to be working.
But the problem is with the board itself because I have now also tried to put the customers...
Hi.
This is an iMac 21-inch (slim version).
Came in with the 3 RAM beep issue. Replaced RAM still beeping three times. Checked DDR PWR 1.5V and 0.75V OK.
Then i replaced the CPU. Now it starts but if I make PRAM reset the 3 beeps return. If I then take out power cord for a while and put it...
This is an iMac 21-inch A1418
Sound is working fine through the internal speakers but when I plug in headphones there is just a constant noise in them. I replaced the headphone jack but issue remains.
Any ideas where to go next?
Thanks for the explanation. It makes sense now. Mark solved and Merry Christmas :-)
Oh. And just one more question. You mentioned in the first post that this not just happened by itself. Was it for sure some liquid (even though I did not find signs that could tell 100%) or can this chip fuck...
OK this is crazy. I measured some rails and found that PP3V3_S0 (pin 7 on J3700) had low resistance to GND. Only 10 ohm. How could I still have correct voltage on this rail (3.3V) ???
But it lead me to inject voltage on the rail and U3900 (camera BGA) got hot. I pulled it and the fucking...
Yes. Several times. Same issue. Tried with several different SSDs (from different models and years) including PRAM reset every time I switched SSD. Just blinking folder. All the SSDs I tried works fine in another computer. And the SSD that came with this machine works fine in both another Retina...
