This is an old thread but wanted to give some info regarding this. I had the same issue with some I purchased from Mobilesentrix. I purchased 5 total and only got 2 to program. Finding one that works seems to be a crap shoot.
Sorry for delay in getting back to you. I finally got it working. The issue was trace related at the trackpad connector. The issue was with the pins within the connector. I believe when I would plug in the trackpad it would cause it to lose connection with the board. So I re-ran wire to all the...
Originally came in with liquid damage and a damaged trackpad connector and cable. I replaced the cable and trackpad connector and repaired a trace for the keyboard on pin 6 and that worked fine. It was sent back working, customer (who is another shop) was responsible for putting it completely...
R8431/32 are good and so are it's traces.
R8433 is good and so are their traces. Q8401 seemed good as well, swapped anyways. Traces for it are good too.
BKLT_EN_R - Has 3V for initially before going to 0v
Changed U8400 a couple times as well with no change.
I have an 820-01987 with no backlight. It had some liquid damage in the backlight circuit around L8420.That was cleaned up and traces are good now.
There wasn't any liquid damage around u8400.
PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT - 0V with no short.
BKLT_SDA - 5v
BKLT_SCL - 5v
PP5V_S0_BKLT_A - 5v

Hello,
I have an 820-02016 that is stuck at 5v and cycling. My amp meter reads 5v with 0.1 amp before the amps drop to zero and my meter turns off completely before turning back on, repeating what I mentioned. The only history I have of the machine is that it stopped working after the trackpad...
Is it.
In fact, I tried a revive and that fixed the issue. I didn't think that would be the issue since I thought you needed SSD power in order for a revive or restore to work. Good to know for future reference.
Thanks for the help and your time.
No.
It seems like the boards with 2 nands, one on each side of then board, don’t have u9000 and the boards that have 4 total, 2 on each side, do have u9000. I have multiple boards in which this is the case.
I have tried multiple cables, multiple macbooks with different versions of macOS installed.
I'm going to look over the board again to see if there's anything obvious that I'm missing.
Thanks.
This is a warranty repair that initially had liquid damage around Q8100, the rest of the board was clean. After cleaning up that area every worked great until recently. It did have a bad U7800 when it came back a second time. U7800 was causing all the slp, wake, g3h to jump, and caused pp5v_g3s...
I tried a pram reset without success.
but what did work for me was putting the MacBook into dfu. From there, since I didn’t have to worry about data, I restored it. After the restore was finished I had backlight again.
A really strange issue but hopefully this will help someone else.
thanks...
Yes it’s an original cable. I have a complete working a1990 that I took the cable from and installed the logic board into the housing. I’m also able to verify the lcd cable and lcd for the board I’m having issues with works with a known good logic board.
I have an 820-01814 with no backlight. The board is very clean and has no sign of liquid or anything else that is obvious.
There is 55v on PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT - I understand that means it's not detecting a load/LED strings from the LCD. I have changed the LCD cable with a known LCD cable, a...
