Magsafe orange light turns off when MBA turns off

What is the voltage on a full charged battery for A1466? Is it about 8.5V?

Magsafe orange light turns off when MBA turns off

It was Magsafe2 charger. It works with another one. The problem was very strange. The charger works without problems when MBA is in sleep mode or while working, but not if laptop is shut down.

Magsafe orange light turns off when MBA turns off

It is the same 820-00165-A board on which EMC1414 temperature monitoring chip is removed. When laptop is powered ON, LED on Magsafe becomes first green for a sec then orange. When Laptop is turned off, this LED also turns off. Battery is charging OK when laptop is ON. Maybe it has something to...

Magsafe orange light turns off when MBA turns off

Hello guys, I have bust noticed a strange behavior. I can normal work on MBA 1466, battery is charging and there is an orange light on the charger. However, when I shut down laptop, the orange light on the charger turns off. This does not look like normal, but MBA works normal. What could it be?

    820-3023-a Fan spinning fast

If macbook works and fan spinning fast, that is the most likely issue with some sensor. Install HwMonitor and read sensor values.

820-00875 CPU overheats with battery connected

Tcampbell, can you please specify in which report you read nvme: Fatal error? I cannot see this in the kernel panic report posted earlier.

    [Solved]: A1466 (820-00165-A) sensor issue

Well, after more than a month struggling with this unfortunate repair, I can say that I have fixed the problem. After all, the job is to make the customer happy. The palm rest temperature (which was the main reason for throttling and fan full speed) is measured as normal again. The problem was...

    [Solved]: A1466 (820-00165-A) sensor issue

I'm continuing chasing the problem of multiple 128 deg C reporting. LIO board s not the soruce of the problem. I have found some discrepancies between resistor values on the schematics and actual values on the board. Pull up resistors R5390 and R5391 are 2 kOhm according to the schematics, but...

820-00165 fast fan and slow mac.

Yes that‘s part of the fix. Problem is that fan ramps up to the full speed until macos is booted to the desktop. Only then Mac Fan Control kicks in and slow the fan down. Also if one choose shut down or restart, Fan jumps to full speed as soon as application shuts down.

820-00165 fast fan and slow mac.

Almost exactly like my own problem. My mac is not running slow, youtube videos are smooth, but cpu stress revealed that it cannot go above 1 GHz. I also have multiple sensors reported 128 deg C. I was not able to create working ASD for my early 2015 Mac. Most probably I will not solve the...

    [Solved]: A1466 (820-00165-A) sensor issue

Thank you for your reply 2informaticos. Different name used for sensors is also a big problem in troubleshooting. For example, I have installed TG Pro and there all temperatures were OK except Palm rest wasn't displayed. It is possible that TG Pro doesn't display sensor data at all if they're...

820-00875 CPU overheats with battery connected

It is very interesting to see that at 90 °C, fan is still below 2000 rpm. Is this normal on Macbook pro? Doesn't seem like it is.

Please have a look at this video! PM_SLP_S4_L is created in the PCH. I hope the problem is something more trivial, like shown in the video.

    [Solved]: A1466 (820-00165-A) sensor issue

After double check, the R5811 is 22k. My multimeter was not good. So I‘m back at the beginning. Is there any way I can check on SDA and SCL SMbus 3 in diode mode to ground to try to find out what is the problem? I don‘t have new LIO board, but don‘t understand how this could influence Palmrest...

    A1466 820-00165-A no power on

Then it is possible that this output line is shorted, but if U8180 works OK, then there would be a voltage drop on 3.3V S5 line. Did you check C8186? When measuring voltage at pin 4, did you also measure on probe test point near R8185? I would remove U8180 and check continuity between pin 4 on...

    A1466 820-00165-A no power on

If you have 3.3V on R8178 ( M_SLP_S3_R_L ) or on the probe point connected to the pin 1 of U8180 and you have 3.3V on C8180 (connected to pin 5), then you need to change U8180.

    A1466 820-00165-A no power on

Hello hgoncalves, PP3v3_S0 is missing, but you have PP3v3_S5, first you need to check whether you have P3V3S0_EN. This signal will open load switch U8030 and allow 3.3 S5 to become 3.3V S0. Please have a look at page 59/76 of the schematics and inspect those resistors. The laptop should boot...

Temperature of hot air for soldering/reflow

Hello guys, after removal of smd component with hot air, soldering iron is used with fresh solder to prepare pads for new component. I see this on many videos about repairing motherboards. First desoldering wick is used and then new solder is added. What is the temperature set on soldering iron...

    [Solved]: A1466 (820-00165-A) sensor issue

I doubt that LIO could be in any connection with this problem. According to the schematics, Trackpad shares SMBUS_SMC_3 and it has connection to the lines that go to U5810. HWMonitor shows Palmrest (trackpad) and 3 other sensors to be 128 °C. Pull up resistor R5811 is critical for addressing...
