This macbook turns on with no backlight and soon after the backlight tries to turn on and then goes back out. It boots up to the login screen and then whole computer shuts down. I notice the computer only turns on by itself and not when I press the power button. Except when I do an SMC reset the...
Hello all,
Am trying to repair this formerly damaged macbook pro. The original board was so bad that I decided to replace it with one from a cracked screen MBP. This new board seems all fine but boots into a folder icon. The mac passes the hardware test with no isssues. When booting into...
The backlight LED pin read short to groundand screen cable was a bit fried. Was not repaired as customer didn't want to buy the lcd. For some reason thought the driver would still try running without the LVDS there. Good to know.
Does the LCD panel have to be attached for it to fire up? I've been testing without the panel attached this whole time. First time encountering non short or corrosion related fault. Is this why I get no enable?
Hello all,
I'm having a bit of a hard time fixing this board due to the lack of board view and the less than common issue (for me). Boots up fine, screen is working, just no backlight. When I measure pin 1 of the LVDS connector I get no attempts of producing voltage. There is 5V getting to the...
Hello,
I have this board which wont turn on. When plugging in the USB C charger I get a current draw of about 20mA. I don't have PPBUS_G3H voltage. My best clue so far is that when I measure PPDCIN_G3H I get around 5.2 volts and occasionally, perhaps as the board tries to turn on, it dips down...
Hello all,
Am attempting to repair this board which has no green light. It has all the G3H "always present" voltage rails except that PPBUS_G3H is 8.1V. It is not going past this state and S4 and other voltages from there on out are missing. I can't see any shorts atm nor do i see an attempt...
Thanks. I tried reflowing, not reballing. Don't have a the equipment to reball just yet. i think im gonna have to call it quits on this one unless the personc an wait until i get parts boards which will take some weeks.
As always I really appreciate all the help! Learning tons here.
Oh boy, unfortunately I do not have any donor boards for this. I wonder how worth the risk it is to go and buy one that may also have the same issue. Anyone on here have one?
0.4290 on PPVRTC_G3H in diode mode with red lead on ground. Should this be present as long as there is PP3V42_G3H present on U1900? PP3V3_S5 and PP3V3_S5RS3RS0_SYSCLKGEN are missing. I'm guessing PPBUS_G3H is what feeds what later creates the S5 lines? What voltage is PPBUS_G3H once this is...
Hello all,
I have this 810-00165-A board with no power or green light. I have verified the G3H voltage rails and have found PPVRTC_G3H rail to be missing. I traced it back to U1900 and found that itself is not getting any voltages except PP3V42_G3H on pin 13. The rest of the missing voltages...
I think (I hope) I've found the issue.
It turns out no current sensor was on this whole time. Computer is not making it to that state. PP3V3_S4SW_SNS was off. So not even making it to S4. I found though that sometimes the SSD gets hot when I am connected to my charger. I checked PP3V3_S0SW_SSD...
Alright, I checked, when the fault happens I get a peak of about 0.5V on the line SMC_SSD_ISENSE. When the computer powers on I get variations between .020v and 0.5V. When I hold the button during fault this 0.5v is sustained. When the power supply plugs in this is sustained a couple seconds...
Hello all,
Yet another macbook I could use your help with. This initially didn't power on. I found U5580 to be corroded, this was replaced along with C5580.SSD current sense circuit. I noticed after some work that R5585 is missing, not sure if because omitting or if I knocked it off during...
Interesting. Thank you guys! When I got the computer it was totally dead however. Perhaps a battery that is going bad? In order to get it going I did have to use the "transfer over a known good board to charge it trick."
