Yes, it displays the exact same thing on an external screen. Weirdly, before I replaced C7292 it would just hang on the Apple, but not show the circle symbol. Is there any type of fix I might be able to try or is this just done?
Yeah, thanks, seems to be the case. I'm hoping for some other magic fix being that the CPU is at least doing something.
Also, I had the number wrong. It's 820-00928. 2017 MacBook Pro 15". Is someone able to fix the title for me? Not sure if it will matter as far as the outcome but it would be...
This board had slight liquid damage in the CPU circuit area. PPBUS_HS_CPU had a damaged capacitor. No short though. The board will try to boot (seems intermittent) and will show the Apple for a second and then show a circle with a line through it. At the same time, a bunch of random pixels will...
No change after SMC bypass. No pulse on pin 6 of U1950. Everything else seems to be cycling.
This board will actually boot all the way once. And then it won't. You have to let it sit for an hour or so which makes me think there's something going on with a capacitor that needs to drain. That's...
Hi, sorry, USB 3.0 devices don't work at all on either USB port. Not recognized. Basic USB 2.0 devices (keyboard, mouse etc.) work fine but USB 2.0 boot drives aren't recognized. Continuity is good throughout L4600 and L4610. 5V is present.
Where was the original liquid damage. Well, for fun I posted the pictures before cleaning the board. It came out of the ultrasonic looking perfect with no signs of damage from the liquid so I don't have much of a trail to follow. I'll try assembling a case for it so I can run HWMonitor. That...
ALL_SYS_PWRGD and pin 7 both cycle. Pin 3 stays at 0V. Keyboard connector needs work so I can't do SMC bypass right now. I'm still just trying to get it to turn on consistently so I haven't tried to connect a battery yet. I did notice though that the SDA and SCL battery lines were not measuring...
I don't know of a way to fix 3332 boards beyond the U8900 fix which sometimes works, but many times doesn't hold up. And I'm getting a fair amount of video chip issue with the 3787 boards. I'm not sure what else to do with those beside try to shut down the graphics chip.
I've never tried using any type of utility to keep the 15" models from switching graphics so I'm wondering if there's a reliable way to do that. I'm wanting to try it with 2012/Early 2013 models and Late 2013/2014 models. Any tips?
This board was hit in multiple spots by liquid. I included pre-ultrasonic-cleaning pictures. I replace the LCD connector. Board is not posting. All voltages are present the that I can possible think to check. Vcore is good. All U1950 voltages are present and normal compared to a good board. S0...
The stack of boards got too high so I'm finally ending my boycott of SMC replacements and I'm trying to figure out if an SMC from an 820-3476 can be used for an 820-3536 or vice-versa. Or an 820-3787 for an 820-3662. I'm assuming the RAM amount doesn't matter, but I'm guessing the SMC for DG...
Is there a go-to app to keep the DG models from crashing? I've heard of a few different options but was wondering if there is one that is known to work best.
"Sounds like CPU got messed up. Just curious have you had good success with this repair?"
I've never tried it before. I did it with the heat sink off. Maybe that was the wrong idea. Not sure.
No issues found in ASD.
I used FDMF6808N chips pulled from 820-00163 and 820-00426 boards.
Any idea why this might be happening with two of these that I worked on? They were both booting before, but with issues. After changing all 3 FDMF6808N chips they both get hung up on the boot progress bar. I've gone over it a bunch of times to make sure everything is soldered properly. I've...
