Hi,

I have an A1398 820-3332-A that does not work on battery, and doesn't charge the battery, but works on charger.
Besides the mac powers on, it has no green light...

Can you help?

Get the green/amber light first, without battery connected.
Check U6900/01 voltages.

Did you try another DCIN board?
What is the exact PPBUS_G3H voltage?

Hi,

I'm testing with only the board on desk, and have already tried with other DCIN.

U6900:
1 = 3.4 V
4 = 3 V
5 = 3 V

U6901:
1 = 3.2 V
2 = 3.2 V
4 = 3.4 V
5 = 3.4 V

PPBUS_G3H =12.25 V

Looks like SMC issue.
U6900 works, but SMC doesn't control SYS_ONEWIRE.
Check voltage and diode mode to ground at SCL/SDA lines of battery bus.

Yes, I have 3.4V on both.
Something strange happens: for 2 times, when I was measuring CHGR_RST_L, the fan stoped spining, and then turn on again after 2 sec(and keeps hapening from times to times)

That is same line as SMC_RESET_L.
Seems to be too weak signal in this case and it drops rapidly; is not normal.
Check for corrosion around U5010 and be sure R5000 is good.

High value resistors always measure lower value onboard, is normal.
The board restarts even when you don't touch SMC_RESET_L signal?

I've replaced the SMC, but with the same result. It even reboots when touch SMC_RESET_L, and don't charge or work on battery.

U5010 :
1= 3.4V
3= 3.4V
4= 2.7V
5= 3.4V
6= 3.4V
7= 0.9V
8= 3.2V

J5100 cleaned and U7000 replaced. but still not charging battery.

Still no Magsafe light?
If yes, SYS_ONEWIRE trace may be broken, or need to change SMC again.
Once SMC is removed, check continuity for corresponding pad underneath.

After all, it seams that i have magsafe light, but only with the original charger. On PSU, I don't have a light on magsafe, besides I have the light on other macs, with the same cable.

Shall I remove SMC even so?

If you get similar readings for voltage and diode mode on SCL/SDA lines, then should be SMC, or ISL6259.
Remove D6950 (if present), just in case.
