Sleep cycle needed for brightness control

Hi,

Just ordered a few a1502 screens. After installing, the brightness control does not work and it always needs a sleep cycle to fix this after boot. Is this common in replacement screens and how do I prevent this?

Thanks!

Are they the correct model, 2013/14 are different from 2015. It could also be an EDID issue with the new OSX, Apple is fucking with that too :(

Yep, right model.

Should I try a different supplier i.e. are there replacement screens around that do work properly with a fully updatet a1502?

I have no idea. It is all fuckery with the EDID issues. Get a used assembly with some scratches, not the ones with a new LCD installed.

Maybe you can spend some time figuring out how to flash the EDID over the eDP AUX channel. I was looking at the PTN3460 eDP to LVDS converter, but have no idea if the DDC data lines will work both ways. Go get a PTN3460 and "dead bug" it to a LCD connector and see if you can flash the EDID.
