I started my repair business just this year in February 2016. I always had a way with fixing things since a kid and was always the go to guy when people needed help with their electronics. I went to I.T.T for electric engineering when I was 18yrs old but never graduated and still paid off all my loan, did not finish paying it until I was 32yrs old.. took forever but I did it. I had worked for several electronic technician positions at various companies while going to school at I.T.T and than after for a few years. I got married and had kids and just ended up losing track of what I loved to do in fixing and repairing electronics. I then just focus my life on raising a family and stuck to a job because it paid the bills for 10years working on a graveyard shift. In the end of that life I ended up losing everything I had worked for from that period, the company let me go and a few months later I ended up in a cell phone repair shop doing general repairs and just started learning how to do things naturally figuring things out with the harder board repairs that the repair shop wasn't providing or doing as a service with micro-soldering. I got more curious and wanted to learn more so I cashed out my 401k that I had saved up working at they company on grave yard for the past 10 years. I bought a plane ticket to Rochester New York and took Jessa's Practical Board Repair class in January 2016. It was a small size class and was only 4 of us on this session. During my time in New York, I received a message from my employer saying that when I returned I would lose my job at the repair shop. My proposal didn't go well with them because I asked for commission for any repair that had to do with data recovery or board repair that they currently was not providing, 20/60 and my part was 20. No change with anything else and I had hope that I could bring more dollars for them as well as for me with this new service that I could help provide them with. I came back and talked it out with the owner and he wanted me to sign a no compete contract and gave me a week. I ended up not sighing the contract and started working from my garage. I spent what I had left from my 401k to start up Micro Recovery Repairs and bought all the equipment I could starting with the most needed. Prior to all this I did not know who Louis Rossman or Jessa Jones was, I came across the Practical Board Repair school browsing the internet on mobile forensic data recovery schooling. Since the Practical Board Repairs school I have been watching more and more videos from Louis's channel and also Jessa's channel. I would like to attend a 1 week class one on one with Louis someday soon if possible, but financially I am not able yet. For now, learning on my own, watching their videos and reading what I can on these topics and repairs is what I am doing. I hope this Forum can help me learn as I go thru repairs that I am blessed to come across my path to repair.
