Picturevalve

Started in the trade as hi-fi sales/repairs person.
Moved onto TV/VCR servicing at the birth of VHS.
It was becoming obvious that the TV trade was doomed around the time of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer and I focused my attention on repairing these to component level.
Business was good and I also took on repairs of all the other 8-bit computers on the market - Atari, BBC Micro, Commodore, etc.
Next came the 16-bit computers - Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, Sinclair QL and laterally the Apple Mac Plus.
Even then Apple expected the entire logic board to be replaced at great cost, but I discovered that most faults were caused by internal leaks in a DIL packaged RC filter which was available at low cost from local component suppliers.

Fast forward to today and component level repair, especially on computers is rare because service information is extremely difficult to lay hands on.

I try my best despite all the hurdles put in my way by manufacturers and found Louis' You Tube videos to be very inspirational.
He reminds me of my younger self who would never throw out a board without first doing all in my power to resurrect it first.

Anyway I think that I've probably waffled on too much already and look forward to sharing board problems with you in the forums.
