I have a 820-3536 that randomly reboots. The board has had liquid damage but been cleaned, Looks like flux around the bios chip...
The board says 2.4GHz 4GB which matches what the bottom plate serial number is. It is a 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 13" .
The serial number in the bios / about screen is...
Here programming socket you can build for yourself. Probably don't need the resistors and
cap for a programer, but this one I have hooked up to a Pi as I had that lying around. It can write and verify
a bios chip in about 15 seconds if you have the file using the open source flashrom program...
Done it myself, same affect, Bought a new bios with clean ME region, same result, now I can see me screwing up the flash but I would think that someone that
sells them for a living would have it right. I know he got the serial number correct as the requested serial number show up after running...
I have a board that was liquid damaged, stuck in boot loop. I installed a new bios chip and now it chimes and will start booting.
Any attempt to load macos results in progress bar to 3/4 then slows down greatly,
it eventually gets to the end of the progress bar and then just stays there.
After...
I am starting from scratch... It looks like it is a WSON8 package,
anyone suggest an adapter or how they built one?
Looks like the only ones for sale are around $100, is that the best choice?
From other posts it looks like I can use a EZP2010 programmer, just need a jig to mount the chip in.
New bios fixed it, chime after 2nd reboot. I guess I get to learn
how to reprogram a bios unless anyone has better suggestion.
If I don't have the original bottom plate so any other way to
get a good serial number then try the one on the cover I
do have?
Anyone have experience with buying one...
I removed flex and airport card, no change.
Drive plugged into onboard usb port,
power light as soon charger connected, never
flashes till goes off when board cycles.
Checking on U2071.
Pin 2, 3.3v PLT_RESET_L
Pin 4, 3.3v PLT_RST_BUF_L
Both stay steady at 3.3v till unit reboots then
go to...
I let it run 10 cycles everyone exactly the same. I timed it and it is even longer cycle then I thought,
It starts out with the fan on low pulling about 700ma, this lasts around 22 seconds, then the
current drops to 480ma and the fan starts ramping up to full speed over about 10 seconds, then...
Unit was claimed to be liquid damage, it was cleaned before I got it, no obvious damage.
It starts to boot, runs about 15 seconds with the fan slowly ramping up to full speed and
then it resets and starts over. VCORE present Usb power on a drive but no activity and
no chime. S0 rails present...
Ok is working, I scraped around the pin 5 pad it was a little corroded
and cleaned it then put new U7701 in and I now have a screen thanks
for your help.
What is XW7720, I don't see it on my board and I can't find a place to check or continuity between pin 5 FB and the diode on other side of board D7701, 6/7 to LD/7701 seem fine.
Could XW7720 be under D7701?
Ok after a little cleaning I was able to get continuity between D7701 pin 2 and pin 5...
Ok, not sure what I did but I have 3.3 on EDP_BKLT_EN now, BKL_PWM and BKL_EN both are around 2.7v
I have 8.6 volts at pin 3/4 so it seems stuff I was missing is there, maybe bad lcd connection... anyway it now
appears I am just not getting boost. 8.6v on D7701
Pulling R7704 didn't change...
Could the reed switch be stuck so the system thinks the lid is always closed? Any idea what that switch is called in boardview?,
Nvmd, it is SMC_LID and it is working correctly.
