Ok thank you, I forgot to mention that the battery was dead because I thought this couldn‘t be the problem.
I will put in a new battery and keep you informed.
Thanks for your help!
Hello,
thank you, you were right! By pressing the alt key, I was able run the ASD EFI Test which passed (after 1 hour - slowest part of the test were the memory tests).
The thing now is, that I can't install OSX because its so so slow. The mouse is lagging and everything takes way too long...
Hello guys,
I just got a new board which has no apple logo on startup. It chimes, video is there, the fan is spinning and VCore is present. But it doesn't boot.
When I measure the power rails, I get only 0.8V on PPVCORE_S0_CPU_REG (instead of 1.25V). I thought there could be an issue with Q7510...
Thank you, I just prepared everything but I have to use a old pc power supply like Louis in one of his videos. The thing is, he uses LEDs as a load to get high amps but that doesn't work for me when I use the 3.3V rail. Do you have an idea what I could use as a load?
Yes, I measure a short to GND too (on 3V42), but I can´t figure out where. Would it be possible that there is corrosion under my newly soldered SMC after ultrasonic cleaning?
Great, thank you!
I haven't thought there CPU resistance would be so low.
Now everything works fine! Macbook running perfectly again!
Thanks a lot guys!!!
Hello,
yes SMC_RESET is low.
I now removed J5100 and replaced U6990 because I thought that this chip could be bad because I get only 1V on the boost pin. (nothing changed)
Why do I only get 1V boost with a new chip? Would it be possible that my replaced SMC went bad during the ultrasonic...
Hello,
Thank you guys, I now fixed my ticking issue! it was some come kind of corrosion or some nasty stuff near U8900 which caused a short. (The board was officially not liquid damaged)
Now the fan spins but while checking all the coils I realized that I have a short on L7510, L7520, L7530...
I checked all coils and I couldn't find a single short.
The wired thing I found is that when I removed C9823, C9848 and C9849 the ticking stopped except one tick at the beginning. I now replaced these three parts but nothing changed. noise still there.
I am kind of clueless..
So, I now replaced the SMC and the board start working again, thanks a lot dukefawks.
The thing which is suspicious to me is that after I put the logicboard in my ultrasonic cleaner like every other board, I had no green light (no onewire) anymore.
When I check the onewire circuit with U7000...
I also guessed the noise came from a coil but I can't figure out which
what do you mean with "unreliable rail can also cause coil making ticking noose"?
I just replaced U7201 for testing purposes and I think now I have a fully working chip but the ticking noise is back.
I now have clean 5V on 5V_S5 but when I hear a tick on the logicboard, the voltage on 5V_S5 drops to 3V for a few milliseconds.
I think thats probably the issue why nothing is...
