So I have an 820-00239 which was working until one day it apparently just decided to stop working.
Opened the unit to expect liquid damage, absolutely nothing whatsoever - very very clean unit with no signs of damage nor obvious shorts.
Device pulls 20v at 0.2 amps, checked PPBUS_G3H which is...
I've noticed that PP1V05_S0 has a resistance of 70Ohms, and on a known working board I have 500Ohm - Assuming something has blown or PCH is in fact damaged in some way? It seems to power up fine but haven't tested with a screen and SSD yet.
I might look at replacing U7600 with another one as...
In process of that now, will post an update with how this goes, spotted some resistors/capacitors slightly misaligned so will work on this area.
I think it's more likely the U7600 not fully flush with the board, hate working on chips that have thermal pads because I can never seem to use a...
I replaced C7630 and good news! It powers up so PCH isn't dead thankfully.
Bad news is it seems to only like booting up when I spray isopropyl alcohol on top of the U7600. So will be investigating that further.
When there is no alcohol over that area, the board pulls 0.05A, and L7630 only has...
I will have a look at those you have named shortly as I'm about to have a look at this board again now.
Should I assume that this board is now as good as dead? I do remember that the CPU area was getting fairly warm even with ppbus being on 1.9V, guessing that's because of the Q7630 short...
So today I was working on a board which was apparently "sometimes not turning on", had it for a week and was always powering on fine, without inspecting it - I was going to send it back to the customer tomorrow but spotted it wouldn't turn on.
Long story short after inspecting the board, found...
Hi all,
First off I know it's a screen assembly issue as me and a colleague have been diagnosing this issue for the past two months.
We have worked on multiple 2019 pros no matter what board number it is, just the 2019 range. When we have replaced the screen assembly we've noticed the unit will...
If I remember correctly, I did check to see if there was USB activity and I think there was. I can't check until Monday now though, and yeah I understand pin 5 being 0v shows there is no backlight and thats why I checked with R1430 to see if that was damaged in any way. If I'm looking at the...
Got a bit of an issue with this board, no known liquid damage but had a damaged J8300 and have replaced. Noticed C8325 and C8324 were removed from the board so replaced those - but now I'm getting no image and no backlight.
I've measured the following which should help.
Q7707:
2- 3.3v
3- 8v
4...
Would you like me to upload the original bios with its original ME, as well as the replacement chips bios as well? I've got backups of both before attempting any clean ME. Not sure if I have to change the serial number on the replacement to match the original as I'm currently doing this just to...
Would have tried reballing the SMC, but the stencil I have ordered hasn't arrived yet.
So a little update is that I removed the spi rom chip from the board and replaced it with another boards one, and it seems to always power on now but it takes double the time for backlight to appear and once...
Hi, first time posting here so bear with any details that are lacking. Trying my best to resolve issues with this board but going absolutely nowhere.
Not much history to go by with this board, apart from seeing minor liquid damage across J1800, not much there nor any of it bridging across the...
