Does this indicate anything specifically? From what lines I see that are associated, none are shorted--though I didn't test their voltages yet. Will give a more detailed update when flatcable comes in.
Unfortunately I don't have an OG magsafe 2 right now, just a magsafe 1 and an adapter! I think that'll probably mess with proper boot, so should I attempt or just order a normal magsafe 2? I should probably get one anyway lol
No history available, got it off ebay. No dents or anything on the case though, so I'm not sure about drops.
I also did some more digging and found some slight corrosion around U7600--not a ton, but enough to where it looked pretty shoddy. I took em off, tinned pads and put on a U7600 from a...
New update: not sure if this is related or just a quirk of the issue, but the computer runs fine with only one fan installed. No slowdowns, no fan blurs, nothing. With both fans plugged in, however, the computer quickly picks up their speed and runs very slowly.
edit - now it's slow with one...
Got it working :) resoldered L7710 and Q7701, we have backlight.
Unfortunately, after a while of the board being turned on and functioning totally normally, the system hung for a moment and fans went up, and now the fans blare shortly after turning the computer on--classic PFM006, NDC001...
67.7K for R7012--but upon revisiting it's not having that problem at all, and instead shows a short on 3v42 when the board is pressed on. When the board isn't being pressed on, the fan whirs but doesn't boot fully.
I'll do the general digging for no chime, but I have no clue as to why it...
Hate these ones lol.
Board powers up sometimes, but most of the time when plugged in has a very dim green light and no fan spin. Looked totally clean, no signs of liquid damage.
PPDCIN_G3H fluctuates from 16.3v to about 16.7v every few seconds, and PP3v42_G3H fluctuates similarly except just...
Hey guys! New forum style, neat. Haven't been here in a while lol.
So I've been dealing with this guy for a while--original problem had no backlight, had some liquid damage around backlight chips/lvds connector, cleaned 'em up and resoldered new connector. Have image, but still no backlight...
Have an 820-00165 with water damage on both sides of the board where the SMC is. Cleaned the corrosion and board powers on w/charger, but will restart after a few moments on the login screen and will not power on w/battery at all.
Before I start poking around at rails in the affected area...
In the case of an operating system issue I've done a few updates, but no dice. Been using an OEM Magsafe 2 since the start as well. Any other ideas?
edit - could it be the SSD? It seems to only happen when the hard drive itself is put to sleep. I'll test with a different SSD.
Tried new I/O cable and I/O board, no difference (tho the machine now chimes much faster when turned on). Trackpad/TP cable look just fine, no signs of water damage but should I try with known good parts anyway? Any other potential problem points besides these as well?
This guy had no backlight, replaced U7701 and cleaned up corrosion on the PPHV_S0SW_LCDBKLT circuitry. Board boots fine and works perfectly now, except for when it tries to go into Sleep Mode. Once it fully enters Sleep Mode, the computer fully turns off. Fans have stopped spinning, keyboard...
Noticed a thread very similar to the one I'm making posted a few years ago, but it didn't get anywhere.
512GB SSD, looks in prime shape, no corrosion/visible damage of any kind. Refuses to be detected in two good machines that detect other SSDs. I can recognize some data-lines here, but unsure...
SMC_RESET_L and SMC_LRESET_L are different data lines, are they not? SMC_LRESET_L is the one that is broken trace on mine.
Stencil should be arriving soon.
Found the issue--SMC_LRESET_L had a broken trace between the SMC pad and it's via. Unfortunately replacing SMC is doodoo for me rn, but with a new hot air station here and a new stencil coming in soon I'll give a shot at reballing one of the many I have.
I'm guessing this is the issue, at...
Plug in the 60W OEM magsafe, you usually get a green light w/fan spin, no chime/display/anything. Fan continually runs higher and higher etc, the usual. No USB activity/no beeps when ram is not inserted.
Occasionally, when optical drive is connected, you'll get the whir of the optical drive...
