3115, magsafe led turns off after a few minutes

Problem seems to have resolved itself for now, but given it's seemingly sporadic schedule of occurring I'll keep an eye on it and test what you mentioned if it happens again.

3115, magsafe led turns off after a few minutes

So this guy had some ISL trouble, fixed er up and replaced the SDA resistor for the battery as well. Boots, detects battery and will charge it, but after a certain amount of time, the magsafe LED will just turn off and the machine won't take charge. Unplugging and plugging the magsafe back in...

    3476, no PM_SLP_S4_L, SMC_DELAYED_PWRGD, SMC_CLK32K, PP3v3_SUS, etc

Came back today, board turned on fine :) guessing it just needed to dry out some more. Have an issue that I'm not sure was occurring beforehand now--the computer will not turn on w/just battery connected, but will turn on with charger + battery (waits to me to press power button) and just...

    3476, no PM_SLP_S4_L, SMC_DELAYED_PWRGD, SMC_CLK32K, PP3v3_SUS, etc

Quick? I'm guessing you mean hot air gun. There wasn't much corrosion at all--just a bit around Q7155 + caps, the keyboard backlight connector and some on the ssd, maybe a bit around the ISL chip (already replaced due to it shorting). I'm hoping it's just a case of it not being properly dried...

    3476, no PM_SLP_S4_L, SMC_DELAYED_PWRGD, SMC_CLK32K, PP3v3_SUS, etc

So I shouldn't use UC to clean the flux residue off the board? I only kept it in there lightly, 1m each side. Where do you think I should start? I'm missing basically everything after s5, but not sure which traces are absent bc of others being absent along with it. SLP_S4_L can be missing for a...

    3476, no PM_SLP_S4_L, SMC_DELAYED_PWRGD, SMC_CLK32K, PP3v3_SUS, etc

Board has all G3H and s5 rails in good state, everything else is pretty much missing. Just repaired this one for a LCD connector (no backlight) and was working fine, put er in the ultrasonic for cleaning (had some minor corrosion about), alcohol bath, then dehydrator for a good 20m-30m. Tested...

3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + DCIN rails pumping?

Replaced it, works now :) thanks a bunch. Why does ACOK_VCC being 2.00v conclude U6901 being bad and not U6900?

    U6900 (1)SMC_BC_ACOK_VCC 2.00v (4)SYS_ONEWIRE 2.00v (5)ADAPTER_SENSE 2.00v U6901 (1,2)SMC_BC_ACOK 3.27v (4)SMC_BC_ACOK_VCC 2.00v (5)PP3V42_G3H 3.44v Voltage went from 1.47v to 2.00v on the ONEWIRE lines since last time but still low.

3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + DCIN rails pumping?

While looking at R7080/81 I discovered R6905/R6990 were completely missing from the board >:( maybe the guy before was using this board for parts, not sure. Either way, after replacing I now have stable DCIN rails, 3V42 and PPBUS_G3H are 3.44v and 12.56v respectively. The resistors you mentioned...

3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + DCIN rails pumping?

Yes charger is known good, I've been using a 60w since it's a 13" board, but 85w returns same results. Tried multiple DC-in boards, PP3v42 has .310v drop in diode mode to ground, 1.655kohms in resistance.

3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + DCIN rails pumping?

Dim green light on magsafe, somebody had apparently tried to repair this board previously... both ADAPTER_SENSE and PP18V5_DCIN_FUSE jump every second, SENSE between ~3.9v to ~4.1v and FUSE between ~17.1v to ~16v. No shorts on any of those lines, and PPBUS_G3H descends constantly from around...

820-3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + short on PPBUS_G3H?

No, the fuse was totally blown off the board when I had gotten it and I just didn't realize until later what was supposed to be there. Board has been shorting since the beginning, without F9700 attached--there aren't any pads to solder a new fuse on in it's original place. With it reattached to...

820-3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + short on PPBUS_G3H?

No luck unfortunately, soldered a fuse between Q9706 and R4260 and their respective pads, still a short on PPBUS_G3H. Guessing this guy is as good as done. I'll add a pic of the corroded pads to give some context as to the severity--I have a feeling it's probably an internal short.

820-3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + short on PPBUS_G3H?

Wow--was assuming F9700 was a developer component and not used on the actual board, since my reference 3115 was also missing the fuse. Checked another board I had after you mentioned that, and there she was. I'll be doing your second option to try and remedy this!

820-3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + short on PPBUS_G3H?

    PPBUSG3H - .920v, shorted to ground (0.00v/ohms in diode + resistance) PPVIN_SW_T29BST - .003v, no shorts PPBUS_S5_HS_COMPUTING_ISNS - .870v, shorted to ground (0.00v/ohms in diode + resistance) PPBUS_S5_HS_OTHER_ISNS - .873v, shorted to ground (0.00v/ohms in diode + resistance) PPDCIN_G3H -...

820-3115-B, dim green light on magsafe + short on PPBUS_G3H?

Liquid damage wasn't too extensive, but particularly bad regarding the pads of F9700--the corrosion essentially ate it's way thru some of the board, and there's a shallow divot where the pads should be. Otherwise, some slight corrosion and a totally burnt out L9004, same issue with F9700 where...

    MacBook Pro 2015 15" 820-00138, no backlight/LVDS cables get pin 1 ruined?

@2informaticos... screen turns on fine. Guess I should actually test my work before assuming it's wrong! Thread on standby until I can say something else is wrong with the image, so we'll see.

    MacBook Pro 2015 15" 820-00138, no backlight/LVDS cables get pin 1 ruined?

To test for continuity, I ran a wire from pin 2 of R7708 (BKL_FB) to the S0_LCDBKLT of D7701, and got that associated vdrop (~.670mv) throughout the entire line, including C8300 and pin 1 of the LVDS connector. So, I'm pretty dern stumped right now. Wouldn't that voltage drop being reflected...

    MacBook Pro 2015 15" 820-00138, no backlight/LVDS cables get pin 1 ruined?

Well, I took off all associated capacitors on PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT looking for that short and, nadah. Still getting a big fat OL on diode reading. I replaced U7701 and D7701 just in case one of those had been shorting, but nope. I get a reading of around .780 in diode mode on LCDBKLT_PWR_SW side of...

    MacBook Pro 2015 15" 820-00138, no backlight/LVDS cables get pin 1 ruined?

Changed LVDS cable and LVDS connector, without cable connected I got a small 6.5mv on PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT. Took off C8300, still getting OL on diode mode and 167kilohms resistance to ground on PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT, except this time I'm getting no voltage (0.0v) when testing PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT. Even...
