Ok, here is an update. Checked with another flex I/O cable and the issue is still the same. Now, I examined the area around U5810 more closely and found nothing suspicious, but when I measured the resistor R5811, which is 22 K according to the schematics the multimeter showed 4.5 kOhm in one...
Thank you. I have made a test, disconnected flex I/O cable and start with battery. The MBA booted as usually and HWMonitor showed exact same valies as already posted here. It was very unexected for me. Except for lack of audio, there were no other signs of additional slowdown. I expected very...
Hello to all,
I have an old problem, but starting a new thread in order to present all relevant information for this particular macbook in one place.
I have repaired the board 820-00165-A, by replacing U8030. The laptop worked normally for a few hours and then fan just ramp to full speed.
At...
grmacs, you should post screenshot of HWMonitor readings, something like attached.
You should install this one: https://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/HWMonitor.shtml
As duke said, it is very likely that this sensor is so called Fin Stack on your schematics "LIO Finstack Temp", it is also known as Th1H, page 38 of schematics.
Not sure if possible to start macbook without I/o board connected (on battery). If possible this could be a good test to read HW...
Unfortunately, this is not documented well and the names used in the schematics are often misleading. Also, I have seen in my own example that HWMonitor and iStats often use different names for the same sensors.
This is a good article but there is no strict reference to the schematics...
Hello macbook repair experts, maybe this is a dumb question, but on many macbook repair youtube videos, especially from Paul Daniels, I have noticed that voltage is always 18V. I can see that in addition to USB Chipmunk tester, one important indicator is current that board is drawing. But if...
I have two machines, both has sensors issues and reporting multiple senors failure in HWMonitor On first one fan is not full blast if I disconnect camera cable but reports many sensor failures.
I'll try to obtain a fully functional A1466 with no sensor issues to test what is reported when...
Yes that is why it is so confusing. Two memory (bank and proximity), palmrest mainboard and airport. All 5 sensors to 128C even when trackpad is unplugged. I think this 'meomory proximity" is non existant.
Yes, I know that and already tried it. But I was expecting that my HW Monitor reports differently when trackpad is disconencted. Didn't expect airport proximity and mainboard proximity to stay 128C, I was expecting different reporting there no matter the fan full blast.
First of all, thank you all for your time. I have unplugged the touchpad flex cable 593-1604-B from the logic board, but same (in total 5) sensors still reported the same errors (128 deg C). I used external mouse and keyboard during this test and rhe same sensors are reported with high readings...
Yes, currently there are two laptops, both A1466 with the same/similar issue, one is 2014 and second one is 2015.
On this from 2014, when disconnecting cable from J4002: Camera Connector, fan is not running full speed, so with help of 2informaticos it is concluded that it is most likely sensor...
I did try to use Prime 95, but after downloading and extracting archive, I have tried to start Prime95 and got the following message:
"“Prime95” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."
Because of that I used CPU stress test and this is the diagram. Since CPU is i5...
I have installed Intel Power Gadget and make a test. I have opened youtubevideo, thunderbird, Libre Office Writer, Spreadsheet and Presentation and during that time diagrams is recorded and given in the attachment. Because frequency is not getting above 1 GHz, does this mean that this MBA is...
Ok, thank you. I can conclude that there is no throttling on this MBA, which is "under observation". These sensors are really confusing me. without special control app, fan would go full speed. But the laptop works normal, wherever I found information about failed sensors it was also followed by...
piernov, are these sensors labels same on 820-3437 and 820-00165 (A1466, years 2013-2017)?
Q5810 is TS2P Camera Proximity
Q5820 is THSP T29 Proximity
Q5830 is Ta0P Inlet
Q5840 is TW0P Wireless Proximity
Q5850 is TM0P Memory Proximity
Q5860 is TCHP Charger Proximity
U5800 is TC0P CPU Proximity...
Thank you piernov. Just one more question. Usually when sensor fails, CPU starts throttling and computer is very slow. I have found some information about the "kernel_task" activity in Activity monitor. I can use the laptop and watch YouTube/Netflix streaming without any glitches.
Maybe this is...
Hello,
can someone please confirm that all A1466 MBA use the same trackpad flex cable? If I'm not mistaken this model is manufactured from 2013 to 2017.
