I'm trying to fix a 820-2327 which had a little bit water damage:
https://www.rossmanngroup.com/boards...t-water-damage
The board is now clean and I managed to reveal all the Power rails!
The fan spins normally and the DVD-drive makes noises at startup.
Both the CPU and GPU get voltage and...
I got the same board with same symptoms here, no liquid damage:
PP5V_S3 - no
PP5V_S0 - no
PP3V3_S5 - present
PP1V05_S5_MCP - 1.16v
pm_slp_s4_l - missing
no shorts to GND
what could it be?
Maybe a clock issue?
I use the same multimeter too - never let me down
Never buy brand named tools from china - they look like hakko, amtech, amscope & co but they aren't!
A dead graphic chip is dead! The Chips sold in china are not new and almost dead too!
I still have many things to say but no time at the...

Maybe you've just given us the a hint! Look at the data lines of the trackpad they end in the USB hub of the processor/PCH as well as the other USB devices and ports do.
Does the faulty USB port works when the trackpad works?
I'm thinking out loud: what if you sacrifice on functioning...

Thanks for the answer it helps me a lot!
You have tried both stations and can clearly tell what the different is!
Compared to Louis videos it takes 2x-4x as long to unsolder a big QFN chip with my station thats why I said it kinda works!
Therefore I prefer to use a preheater...

If you don't have a powerful hot air station it is a good idea to preheat the board.
You can build yourself a Teppan-Yaki preheater :D
Here is a photo from 2011:
In my early days I had a board with similar behavior as yours...
It landed on ebay since I was pretty sure it has something to do with SCM
Man I wish I could lay my hands on it again .... SORRY I was in thoughts
Back to your issue:
I've made the experience that such a behavior needs a new SMC
One of my coworkers has a Macbook air with liquid spill on Q7630 shorting PPBUS to PP1V05_S0.
The PPBUS line dropped from 8V to 2.9V since the shorted line pulled a lot of amperage.
He has managed to replace Q7630 Mosfet with an new one but now the board behaves as follows:
- As soon he...
It is weird Weller is a german company and their products are more expensive in Germany than in the US.
On Amazon.com WHA900 costs 612$ ~ 535€ and in Germany nothing under 850€ ~970$
I almost bought the Atten 858D+ for second machine since I saw a lot of YouTube content of it. The most of it comes from asia ;)
It has the blowing motor integrated in the hand-piece unlike the most of the AOYUE machines.
They use a pump inside the device. I cant say what the advantages and...
After so many attempts I would let this chip rest in peace.
Do you put new solder balls after each attempt?
If you want to be successful don't waste your time on this chip any longer:
- order a chip with new balls
- de-solder the faulty chip and remove all the excess solder off the board with...
If your PPDCIN is 18.5V but PPBUS_G3H is only 4.57V there is maybe something pulling it down! YES
Probe with your fingers if something is getting hot.
Desolder F7040 and measure the voltage on pad1 of F7040
Are you able to inject 12V to PPBUS_G3H with an external power source?
I know what Louis is going to write in here but what the rest of you think about it?
Any experiences or comparisons?
I use AOYUE Int852A+ for the last 8 Years and for me it kind of works. Sometimes I have to preheat the board to solder bigger chips but it works fine.
It goes up to 480C and...
I started exactly like you with only one TIP T15-J02
Your next choice should be a knife TIP like T15-K / T15-KU
It has the ability to solder fine joints with the front tip but you can also use the side of the tip for bigger joints since it has a great thermal mass!
I like to work on QFN packages...
I ordered the SM-4B with a 0.5x barlow now
Since I'm in Germany I payed 550€ altogether...
I hope the sale of my old microscope with the boom stand brings a view coins back
Ich auch :)
I've just ordered a few faulty board from aliexpress. They need up to 5 weeks to arrive so it is a good idea to have them in stock :)
