Unfortunately the next time i have access to a scope is on monday. I removed C7011 and now it works with charger too. But i had this situation already a few times and later the same day the problem returms. Maybe its a heat related problem?
I'll report back if it dies again and post scope...
Changed Q7080 - no change. I tryed defferent, known good chargers ( 1x 85W that works with other devices and 1x 60W with customer battery on Bench power supply)
With the same chargers it works a moment later randomly...
If i plug in a battery everything is fine and it works instantly. Unplug...
It gives the problem randomly on charger as well as charger and battery. With battery alone it did not happen.
Current sensing is fine at the ISL pins.
My Problem is that every Rail (except 3V42) seems to be present but pulsing. Even PPDCIN_G3H_CHGR is pulsing between 16.0 V and 16.2 V with...
Thank you for the answer. I didnt know where to start at this. Every Rail except 3V42 was pulsing with a 85W Charger (eg. PPBUS is jumping between 10.X V and 12,6 V) This board should start from a 85W charger without battery if i am right. I tested with customer battery (just in case) but still...
This 820-3330 can work perfektly fine. Unfortunately only randomly it starts and works. The rest of the time its dead with just an green light (orange light is just there it it decides to start) and fan twitch ~ every 1 second. I can hear a clicking noise (i guess from a transistor?!) if the...
Thank you for the answer. I dod not know the thing with file vault so i suspected a different problem...
So as this has to be a problem with SPI i checked all resistors and traces but everything is fine. Next i checked every pin of U4910 and Pin 6 was 0V (i suspected 3,3V). I traced this back to...
Hello,
this 820-4924 was waterdamaged. The customer claims, that he dryed it and it was working after that except one problem. He can start it and log into his account but as soon as he enters the OS Keyboard and Trackpad aint working anymore.
I cleaned the (minor) corrosion and put it in the...
This 820-2879 was waterdamage. It has a green light but wont turn on. Water hit the U6990 area - not to bad and not much. I fixed that but still no live. I had a few of those already and from experience often the MCP has problems. So i jus want a confirmation here, thats its a dead MCP (even if...
I checked all the things you mentioned and everything is fine. Is there anything erlse i could have missed?
I also reflowed the SMC (I thought maybe he bend the board while disassembeling or something) but still no change. So i ordered two fresh donors with SMCs on them. It has to be the SMC now...
Customer had this issue with his SSD (i did not read the sensor values from his installation but fan spon high and it was unusable slow).
Actually i am using my own SSD with external USB adaptor (as i do everytime) and get the readings i posted in the beginning (tryed multiple times)...
As fas as i can tell all these sensors are part of SMBUS_SMC_0. On this line is the PCH (chipset) U1100, LCD temp (U5690), the smc itshelf and U5600. U5600 cpmbines the temp sensors T1 (Board proximity, CPU proximity and AC/DC- Sensor). That are all the failing sensors except for the two...
Ahh, thank you. How can i check if a sensor itshelf is reading fine?
Most of the sensors (except the HDD sensors) that fail were connected to U5600 (already replaced) and the I2C from this chip (both lines) to the SMC is 3,3V. Thats why i am so confused.
This is a late 2013 model and i have tryed 3S155 already bevore using HW monitor(i have all up to 3S156) but nothing works unfortunately.
I am not sure but if the data line has 3,3V (not shorted) this would mean that every single one of those sensors with the high readings on page 50 is bad...
Update:
While i was testing every szenario that came into my mind i also tested with the battery (not for the first time). It charges the battery with 4A and turns on from battery. Is this a model that needs a good battery to work?
But the interesting part is that it actually istn?t completely...
My guess is that the internal kayboard (or a few keys) is not working => no reset possible (Caps Lock is also not working...)
Istn`t there anything i can do - specially as the customer needs the data and it actually turns on now...
Is target disk mode still possible on these newer ones via an...
Unfortunately i dont have the ASD for that model yet.
Would one of those sensors also cause the Kernel Task to be high? in the older ones just the fan goes crazy. I put an original Apple HDD in and reconnected the LCD temp sensor and with the screen connected i get the same result.
Also i put...
Mouse light stays on aswell as the fans but i could force a PRAM reset with an external keyboard i think as the backlicht turns of and back on after a few seconds. USB-C ampmeter stays at ~1,4A during the reset. No change so far.
But the amp meter gives another hint. So the Board turns on but...
Thank you for the answer.
I tryed with everything disconnected - no change.
DFR_TOUCH_LID seems to be straight 0V
J8500 looks perfektly fine - liquid only hit the one "wing". The rest of the board looks also like new
But i could not confirm USB activity (Mouse seems to work but my USB drive...
