Yes I meant GPU there.
There are lots of more voltages going to the GPU besides the core voltages, so just removing R8911 would not prove the GPU is not at fault. Of course the GPU will not work when R8911 is removed. The thing is that R8911 was removed by someone that kind of knew what they...
Without a GPU this board will never display video as the GPU is needed for bootscreen until OSX is loaded and switches to Intel GFX.
I'm not even sure if these board will boot/chime without CPU, my guess is yes but not sure. Does the board beep now without RAM? Beep comes from speaker that is...
0.76mm or 0.45mm balls, that is the difference. You can order it new or get it from a dead board, but you maybe it will be better to fix the dead board you are pulling it from than this thing.
Seriously, this will be a total waste of time and money, this thing is done.
is 3V42 shorted? If yes inject 3V into that rail and see if PCH heats up. If it does then you should really stop there as there is probably even more damage beyond the PCH too.
00165 coil is different value as 3V42 chip is different type.
Just order some 00875 donor board from Aliexpress, same as 00840 but a few details and cheap. But then remains the question why L6995 got burned, I have never seen this happen so something must be going on here.....
Check for short in...
Just skipped quickly through this thread, but why are you putting time and effort into a board that had 12V on the 5V rail? Not want to rain on your parade, but the chance of a dead PCH/CPU is pretty much 100% here.
R6920 getting hot will be a short on 3V42 or on the input of U6990. I'm going...
R8911 did not "just" go missing. My guess is that the GPU is shorted and someone messed with it and disabled GPU power by removing that resistor and possibly doing a BIOS mod to let it run on Intel only.
Also some of these boards do need a battery connected or PPBUS will intermittently not come up.
Certainly dead GPU. Few options are:
1 Replace GPU, REAL GPUs pretty much not available if you don't know the right supplier. All other "new" ones are fake.
2 Flash MUX to disable GPU, Dosdude website, no backlight control really.
3 Install "Tiresias" bypass board from CMIZAPPER.com
4 Other...
LCD is bad, liquid also got into the LCD.
This is a true tone LCD, so make sure you get a 2018+ LCD. The 2016/17 LCDs will work but backlight will be very dark. So be careful if you order Chinese crap!
I'm just posting this here for reference as this is a common issue and there are many different causes. This is not about the network error but the error that occurred during installation of the update.
The critical software update is triggered if during normal OSX boot the T1/T2 chip cannot...
A1466 and A1932 are 2 totally different platforms so I doubt it will be hardware related.
I think the Netflix bug with flickering video is still present when running in Safari, so maybe it is that?
