really odd one, as soon as i plug in the battery, it only comes on for a second and immediately turns off. fine with only DC power.

I just realised that my initial assessment of liquid damage might be wrong. there's liquid (or oil) all around the underside of the board where it sits on the seal.
Yes external video I tested as well, no sign of life (except the click on the trackpad)
have a 12 incher here, takes 20V on the charger and current is going in. In fact the touchpad also clicks. I tested with a known working display without any luck. These boards are super weird, where do i begin?

SMC bypass does nothing. it's as if i'm not even doing it. Usually the light stays off when holding down power button but the light turns on as if i wasnt pressing it.
Also jsut replaced the SMC (i was feeling lucky) and has the exact same symtoms as before
