that came with different symptom - it started normally and then slowed down after sometime (what the customer said at the very beginning) - I did rush a little to be honest and without using ASD I replaced the BIOS with one that I personally cleaned the ME Region retaining the original serial...
I will try to find an LCD assembly. GPU is known to be good since it was replaced with new BGA using Fineplacer PICO RS system and was probably the 1xxxth I have done so far - a job where we provide 12 months warranty - only reason I mention this is that for me this is now a routine operation...
Hi guys,
I got a similar issue with this thread: https://www.rossmanngroup.com/boards/forum/board-repair-troubleshooting/10654-820-2915-missing-lcd-power-enable
This is is the hi-res LCD model which is missing LCD_PWR_EN.
We have the following going on:
1) There is picture on external...
ok this was the solution: RE-ENABLE secure boot as if you will use UEFI boot media and then DISABLE it again (asks for a 4-digit code + ENTER). It now boots from legacy USB and HDD. mofo computer - you were right of course - I just didn't have a spare HDD with UEFI installation and since I made...
good luck dude! hope you make it to SMT in Nuremberg (just for fun and a visit to Europe, nice city as well) and then we could meet in person... NY is on my schedule for this year (hopefully). Kick some ass in Nebraska.
but I have already changed that in the BIOS. I enabled legacy boot and disabled secure boot options. I have tested these laptops in the past with Live Linux USBs. They fail a lot, mostly their BIOSes get corrupted or their 3.3/5V supply. I have repaired a few so far but only this one can't see...
well I have the backup BIOS so that won't be an issue but it does not boot anything either Windows 7, or Linux for that matter.. I was just wondering if you have seen this behavior (of not seeing the OS in the HDD) before..
cheers dude. we move on :)
Hi guys,
I know this is not Apple but I think duke handles those, too.
This one turns on properly, enters the BIOS if necessary but can not see OS in any attached media. Can see there is a HDD or a USB connected but won't load the OS (Windows, Linux, whatnot)
Legacy boot is enabled, secure...
So I did some measurements and I get:
1) 3.40V at R5381 (SMBUS_CHGR_SCL)
2) 0V ar R5380 (SMBUS_CHGR_SDA)
3) PM_BATLOW_L is low when the charger in attached (with battery connected) and remains low for the following seconds
4) CHGT_BGATE is HIGH at Q7155 and does not charge the battery - the...
so you suggest I need a good battery? shouldn't this model boot without the battery like the rest? Or maybe should I check battery communication to the SMC? Maybe there is an issue there? I will try tonight..
it should start without battery but even then it shows the empty battery symbol, when the magsafe is attached, and nothing else. If you press On/Off button SMC_ONOFF_L goes LOW but nothing else happens. Also the fan does not spin..
Hi guys,
This one looked like it took a dive in an orange juice bucket. I UC it and then there was no green light. I looked around and SMC_BC_ACOK was missing while PP3V42_3GH was ok. The problem was U7100 which I replaced and voila there is green light and the CPU gets hot.
I now half...
glad you take me back to the basics cause we sometimes take them for granted. Although I measured the resistors separately and even changed one, I did not measure the whole thing. One line was cut from R7051 (0 ohm) to R7050. I moved R7051 to the single pad just off its original place (to avoid...
[SOLVED]820-2914, green light ok, fans spin for 5secs, PPBUS_G3H 3.6 to 13.5V and loop.
Hi guys,
As per title, this one boot loops every few secs. Fans stay on for 4-5secs and loop. The PPBUS_G3H jumps from 3.4 to 13.6V when the fans are on.
All voltages except PPVCORE_S0_AXG rise when the...
