[SOLVED]820-2530 dead after HDD->SSD, Green light ok.

Hi guys, A friend tried to upgrade to SSD and he did something that killed this mbp, I noticed that PP3V3_S5 was missing and that U7200 gets really hot. I replaced u7200 and it gets hot again. There seems to be no short on that line and diode mode at L7220 measures 0.089. If I connect the...

[SOLVED]820-2879 back from the dead but...

Ok guys, you were correct as usual. I had to remove the BIL connector to make SMC_LID go high and finish booting. The trackpad had also some crap on the flex side (not that visible) and after some cleaning, it worked as expected. All voltages are present and pull-ups measure correctly. I also...

[SOLVED]820-2879 back from the dead but...

Hi guys, This one was LD and after UC it came back to life when U7000 was replaced (there was a hole in it). The LVDS connector pins were re-soldered and remaining board checked for shorts before powering on. All clear. NOTE: touchpad not working - left disconnected. Now it starts, it chimes...

820-3437 liquid damage, semi-OK now but..

hi duke - small revisit to (3) since you were probably in a hurry.. 3) as mentioned the system will NOT turn on with battery connected - thus cannot check battery status in OSX. Is it safe to leave the magsafe connected to take measurements? Can I tell if the battery is dead by checking the...

820-3437 liquid damage, semi-OK now but..

hi guys, so after UC this one it came back to life but: 1) the fan spins and stops two times and then the machine starts to boot. 2) there was no green/orange light and NO BACKLIGHT until I reconnected some broken lines/pads on the secondary I/O board - that brought back the backlight (???)...

820-00165 No PP5V_S4RS3, green light OK, no FAN spin.

Hi louis, guys, I checked the resistors you mentioned and all are at 3.2+ but I found a corroded pad beside the BIOS chip for line SPI_CS0_L which I bridged but still no fan spin. I also checked surrounding pads but there is continuity. PM_SLP_S4_L looks dead, not jumping up&down. you think...

the preferences did it. It now works properly but it seems the SSD has issues - you cant install anything new to it. Works great with different SSD. thank you!

820-00165 No PP5V_S4RS3, green light OK, no FAN spin.

Hi guys, I started a new thread as the one similar to my problem is.. ehmmm similar which can lead to a messed up existing thread. So here is exactly what happens to mine: It came with LD but almost impossible to notice. I did a UC but nothing changed. 1) Green -> Orange Light OK 2) 3V42...

    820-00165 No SLP

Apologies, I thought that was the point, NOT to start new threads when a topic is already there with similar or same issue. Also I noticed those ones where unanswered for a long time and maybe there was a point in resurrecting them. Again please accept my apologies, I didn't mean to make a...

    820-00165 No SLP

I have a similar problem, LD, UC => no power on, no fan spin. Green/Orange light OK, PPBUS_G3H and PP3V3_S5 ok, I can measure lots of activity around the SMC including 32KHz clock, also PP5V_S5 ok. 3V3_SUS and PP1V05_SUS also OK. BIOS chip looks good, signals - voltages present.

820-3662 LD, worked for a while after UC now ON-OFF loop

OK duke, I did not manage to install OSX normally and I had to use RESTORE from Recovery mode/Disk Utility to copy a working installation to the internal SSD. This worked fine with a small glitch. Upon reboot or turn-on it takes around a minute to detect the SSD and then boot. After that...

820-3662 LD, worked for a while after UC now ON-OFF loop

well that didnt last long - I got lines on the screen, random reboots, SSD not found etc etc.. so I had to reflow the CPU and PCH. NOW it works and completes the installation of Yosemite OR El Capitan but upon reboot I either get to Recovery and I can only re-install OR it boots again to a...

[SOLVED]820-2879-B 13" Pro not turning on

Id remove F7040 and measure both sides for short.. If the side toward the regulator was shorted Id measure the components first without injecting voltage... if the other side toward the rest of the motherboard is shorted then inject voltage there (with F7040 removed so that this voltage goes one...
