Ive not been keeping my eye out for the green dot. Didnt know it was a thing.
Ive hadd 2 apple rework boards both with a huge amount reserve/Not connected pads nowhere to be seen.
The best one i saw was an apple rework (with edge bonding still intact) 820-3332 VRAM block that had about 30%...
Also now replaced u9800 (from scrap board)
No change, still no internal display in OS.
Starting to go a bit loopy on this board.
PP5V_S0_SW_LCD = 5v
PP3v3_S0_SW_LCD = 3v3
BUF_EDP_PANEL_PWR_EN = 3v3
Im starting to wonder if the SMBUS lines have a problem. Anyone have any ideas?
Ive seen this before, Came with a Extremely burnt USB port. I also thought it could be a USB killer. Every time i removed one short resistance would go up a couple of ohms and id have to search for another. Well done for getting it running though!
u9850 is not the commonly known programmed GMUX. I pulled from the same model anyway. That is not the only thing failing on these boards when those lines short.
I have a 00281 with this issue. Tried a to replace u9850 from a 820-3787 with no change in symtoms. Ive now pulled the MUX chip of a scrap 00928 and will get back to you with results
Problem resolved.
Turns out it was EFI related and i just did a terrible job at reballing a replacement SMC leading to a different thermal sensor issue. Lesson learnt, Retest after every repair attempt just encase.
Thanks
820-3332 shipped to me with previous repair work and bad u8900 soldering.
Sorted out u8900, cleaned flux in the ultrasonic. But the thing will not stop running fast fans despite passing apple internal hardware test. Ive checked HW monitor also and found all temperature sensors reading correctly...
I have an 820-00928 board with no display and no backlight on the internal after liquid damage. The internal display does not show up in osx.
Tested with known good screen and cable
Has PP3V3_S0SW_LCD
BUF_EDP_PANEL_PWR_EN
PP5V_S0SW_LCD
I2C_BKLT_SDA
I2C_BKLT_SCL
after checking the LCD connector...
Ive cleaned up the corroded areas and it has made no change. Spent a long time on inspection on this board. I will try a clean ME bios, although its not been messed with before sometimes ive seen bios corruption due to liquid damage.
Thanks
Hi
Odd one, one of my refurb machines, 15" touchbar that had some liquid damage.
Not really bad, Gave it an inspection and ultrasonic as it wasn't booting properly, It seems to be getting worse and worse but it gets the loading bar and then just shuts down.
Does the same on Apple Diagnostics and...
Pulled it down, still the same behaviour. also tried removing the MUX entirely and running solely on ECHI and it still does it. Ive also tried bypassing the mux straight to USB 3.0 whilst using a USB 3.0 device. The problem remains.
Im not sure ill figure this one out, but being defeated by a...
I have a 3115. On port J4700 the USB is behaving odly. If you disconnect the charger it will eject devices plugged into that port.
Ive replaced the USB 2.0 filter, usb 3.0 filters and MUX (u2670)
Ive also bypassed the USB power switch to ensure its not something to do with U4600. I am currently...
I will check external. But i get no keyboard backlight as just assumed it wasnt doing anything.
Ive tested the screen/ screen cable with another board, and they are good. but i will rebuild the system and see if i get anything on an external.
Already have all the correct adapters for USB-C /USB...
Board looked very clean other than the touchbar connector (J4402 now removed due to pin 20 and 22 being corroded/shorted.
It has all power rails, CPU gets warm, with no Post, No chime, no display.
Really stuck. anything i should check?
Thanks
