Wow! I had no idea. I don't do BGA GPU work so when I search the net and see so much about the solder being an issue with the 2011's I just thought that that was an issue. Guess I need to search better sites... or read this forum more because I just searched "2011 GPU not the solder" and viola...
Just putting this here too: Thank you. In retrospect and in light of your well put answers.. I agree my post was f'd. Sorry, I didn't catch the discrepancy with the title and the first question. I tried to correct it as you can see in the edit. I will in the future be more careful with my posts...

Even an answer like "Not much you can do" or "Check out the recovery tool posted here for these MacBooks" or even a simple "I don't know" about my original question instead of just some random fact about my post that is simply just arguing about semantics. Trust me I'm not ungrateful. I can see...
Uh so all of the 2011's were something other than the solder under the GPU? Really where did you get this info from cuz all I can see are loads of documentation and websites talking about the bad solder under the GPU. Also what's up with this site anymore? Where I get one answer from a Senior...
I know reflow-ing a chip like this rarely fixes it or if it did it's temporary but is it a solder issue just like the Nvidia graphics cards of the past or what?
Just wondering if anyone has fixed one of the 13" 2017 MBP with the SSD chips soldered to the board? Wanted to know if it was a solder issue and could be Re-flowed properly to get access to the data? Again Apple is screwing it's customers with this crap.
I totally get what your saying there for sure! The 3 early 2014 that I have just had a backlight that went out on the actual display or LCD. Putting another LCD on them made them work. Unfortunately, for me and those 3 customers the cost to fix, even when I reduced my profit to half, was just...
Hi,
My question was hard to search for because of all the backlight posts. I was wondering if anyone has had success in fixing a backlight issue on the actual LCD. I have a few A1466 MB AIR early 2014 LCD's laying around that the back light just went out. So many that I'm seeing a pattern here...
I have a rebooting 2015 Retina that I've put through the Crest and ran some hot air over a few bad spots. It did not look too bad and I was able to service it within 24 hours. Questions I have are:
1. Does this need a battery plugged in to boot? (I can't get it to boot just from the 85w...
Ok Weirdest thing, this might be classified under not an actual fix but I was just taping the SSD that has metal enclosure into the back of the iMac while I was working on it instead of mounting it in a mount like a normally do. For some reason I thought maybe there is some grounding issue...
iMac 27" 2009 Display goes off randomly Need a hand figuring out voltages please.
Not sure if this is off topic but I have an iMac that I've changed the power supply, Backlight board and V sync cable. Still keeps randomly going black. External display works just fine. Crazy thing is when I...
I got a 2012 MBP 15" that turns on, chimes, and fans are spinning like it's running but I there is no display on internal or external. I'm going to check backlight fuse but I was hoping it would show up on external display yet now I'm thinking it won't until login. Just like my 2015 which won't...
What I'd like to figure out is why that resistor created that situation and how I would have found it or even known to look for that. Looks like it was on CHGR_SGATE_DIV and PPDCIN_G3H_INRUSH
. Well all I can say is that I was having an issue with PPBUS_G3H and that the computer would work on...
