    820-00165 stucks in S5

    Sorry, PPBUS_G3H is 8.59V. SMC_PM_G2_EN is present (3.4V). Yes, PP3V3_S5 and PP5V_S5 are present. I forgot to mention that there was little corrosion on J6100 too. PCH_INTRUDER_L: 3.0V PCH_INTVRMEN: 3.22V PCH_SRTCRST_L: 3.3 V RTC_RESET_L: 3.3V

    820-00165 stucks in S5

Hi, received a MBA 820-00165 with some liquid damage around U5110. Replaced it and found a short on PP3V42_G3H - caused by the SMC. So I replaced the SMC, short is gone but the board stucks in S5 - missing PP5V_S4RS3, PP3V3_S4 and PM_SLP_S4_L. G3H rails look fine. SMC_ADAPTER_EN: 3.43V...

    820-01987 - pulsing PP3V3_G3H

That's what I did :-) Battery disconnected, board was completely cold, left the probes very long for the measurement to be sure it is completely discharged :-)

    820-01987 - pulsing PP3V3_G3H

I just measured the resistance of the CPU a friends Macbook Pro from 2019. Odlly he had nearly the same CPU resistance (0.9 Ω and 0.8 Ω) on the coils. So maybe there is still some hope for the MBP?

    820-01987 - pulsing PP3V3_G3H

Hmm okay :-( Maybe just don't want to admit that it's another dead CPU :D That was the diagnosis of my last 5 boards. Sould the pulsing of the PP3V3_G3H stop with removed coils?

    820-01987 - pulsing PP3V3_G3H

The shorts remain on the CPU (PPVCC/GT) side (pin 2) on all of the 4 coils. Just injected 1.5V on pin 2 of coil L7210 - the CPU took 3 apms, getting warm but not as hot (especially not locally hot) like the other CPU shorts occured on other boards i had for repair in the last months. I'm still...

    820-01987 - pulsing PP3V3_G3H

    Yes I'm getting steady 20V at USB input (according to my USB-C amp-meter). Resistance to Ground on the big coils: L7270: 4.2 Ω, L7210: 0.6 Ω, L7220: 0.6 Ω, L7410: 0.8 Ω L7420: 0.8 Ω, L7702: 41.5 Ω, L8102: 130.5 Ω, L8100: 0.295 kΩ, L7030: 365 kΩ, L7690: 1.9 kΩ, L7670: 23 Ω, L8410: 1.11 MΩ,

That's how U7650 looks like. Some cororsion on C6406 And some corrosion on C6405

I have the correct schematic - just missing boardview. But there is a illustration of the components in the schematic.

    820-01987 - pulsing PP3V3_G3H

Hello everybody :-) I'm currently working on a MBP (820-01987) with some corrosion around C6406 with pulsing PP3V3_G3H. It is taking 20V and pulsing 15mA to 22mA. I don't see any obvios liquid damage on U7650, but I think this could cause the pulsing PP3V3_G3H? It's pretty close to C6406 and...

    820-00928 faulty vram?

SMC_RESET_L is always high - even if powered off. SMC_LSOC_RST_L also always high even if powered off. No reaction on triggering SMC_ONOFF_L manually - independent from keyboard connected or not.

    820-00928 faulty vram?

Yes it's always powering on with max fan spin. Whhat could be the reason for it to start in bypass mode automatically all the time?

    820-00928 faulty vram?

Didn't tried to reball the smc yet. But today i was able to boot and it worked without errors until i unplugged the PSU. The MBP mmediately freezed - no trackpad, Touchbar was frozen, etc. The Fan spin was on max all the time.

    820-00928 faulty vram?

So tried it for 1 hour to get into diagnostic mode. Most of the time no USB activity, no backlight and no display. Sometimes it started with usb activity and backlight, freezing in black screen (usb activit stopped) and shutting down after few seconds. 1 time i successfully started diagnostic...

    820-00928 faulty vram?

Already did that earlier - no errors occurred. When i'm lucky with external monitor backlight shows up but no signal on external and black screen on internal display.
