Yes. The 8.6 and 3.42 rails are rock solid.
The signals to the dual mosfet gate are pulsing too, although the lower gate is only oscillating between 0-200mV.
I've got a liquid damaged (but pre-cleaned) 820-00165A that isn't spinning up. The liquid damage _appears_ to have been pooling around the edge of the board with some residual grubbiness around the SMC and the RAM chips.
The G3H rails are present and the green->orange charger light is as...
Parts now arrived for this and I have replaced u7200 with a new chip .
Still no spin up and I will test the power rails later. Getting a green light and I was getting the orange light. No longer but this could well be that the battery is charged .
I did notice that the battery indicator...
Bang on about the io flex cable. One side of contacts at the board end of the cable was entirely crushed flat.
Reshaping it has sorted it out for the time being . A replacement is on order .
Thanks!
Any thoughts on power button not working? Tried two keyboards and two batteries (one known good of each) .
No obvious corrosion on trackpad . Continuity in ribbon cable seems fine. No obvious corrosion there either. Connector on board is fine too.
Board powers on with charger . Recognises...
Thanks
I inspected the io board under a scope and saw nothing visually wrong. And the trackpad is reported as fine. But I will certainly have a look at that. Odd that a faulty trackpa might cause apple diagnostic to report a power supply issue though (tried three different supplies of course ) .
No idea about the image . The display connector was fubar.
Chiming normally. But low voltages on the 1.25 and 1.05 rails. High voltage on the 3v rail and top speed fan.
I've put it to the side until the connectors arrive . Loads of public holidays in France at the moment so deliveries...
Hi
ive got one of the above coming in for a look later this week. Liquid damage 14 days ago. It was for a friend so i tools quick look, checked for obvious shorts, cleaned it up and sent t back. He reported that the machine worked lie new.
Since then the fan has started spinning at full revs...
LCD connector is removed. I'm waiting for new connectors so can't test with a different screen yet.
But the voltages on ppvcore still seem wrong . I've removed some of the coils and injected voltage into that rail directly but nothing gets hot.
just following up on this. the laptop continues to power up but a couple of power rails seem odd. notably
PP18v5 is at 14.8v rather than the stated 18.5v (this feels like an error in the schematic...) ; and
PPVRTC_G3H is at 3.3v rather than 3v.
PPVCore_S0_CPU is at 0.8v rather than 1.25...
Plugged a screen in .
The laptop boots to bios but u1800 gets very hot.
L7720 seem to vary in resistance to ground . Now around 13k.
L7630 is still close to zero ohms to ground . L7330 is a little better at about 1k .
I've prodded at most things that seem like a culprit and I'm not...
Hi
I've got another mac air in at the moment Coffee damage. Sugared too.
the whole backlight area is nasty. Fuse blown. I've replaced that and the green light goes nicely to orange. But fan stays at high speed throughout.
No power in the backlight circuit. Looks like there's no signal...
Wouldn't plugging it in power it on?
I'm getting the machine back in a couple of days to swap out the keyboard. Customer reports that the charger led no longer turns orange too. But I don't see how an SMC reset can cause that when it was working fine before. So I'm not factoring that it...
For posterity I ought to add that in addition to the right arrow key the power button also failed on the kB .
But interestingly the device still managed to get through an SMC reset. Wonder how it did that without the power button.
I've ordered a new kB, camera cable and camera. 40€ so not too terrible and useful even if not used on this board .
Gave thet laptop back to client whilst the parts get here . She tried an SMC reset in case that was behind the camera issues (no good reason, just a ''cant hurt to try"). Logic...
That's disappointing about the camera . I have not tried a known good camera - I have no spare sensors but will buy some. There was no trauma to the screen however . Just liquid spill on the keyboard.
Although it did heat up the hinge cover sufficiently to burn a hole in it. The camera...
