I got this 820-01700 board that was liquid damaged near JB500 area. I get 20v 0.09a on the charger and I have all my SLPS2R and AWAKE voltages. I do not have anything on my G3S rails. I attempted to boot it into DFU to try a T2 firmware restore but it would not go into DFU at all. After a while...
Yea, this board is done for. It has a ton of broken traces. I was checking diode mode values on all the resistors on the opposite side of the board from the PCH. I found a bunch of OL values, which does not match another board I have, so these are all broken traces. Thanks anyway.
Hello. This board has turned into a real nightmare. Originally it came in with liquid damage and minor corrosion around U7650, U3100 and U4200. Was only getting 5v and PP3V3_G3H was shorted to ground. I cleared the short by removing C3100 and got 20v but only about 30ma. Was missing PP3V3_S5 and...
I have this 820-00923 board that was liquid damaged around J4402 and J3300. The pin for PP5V_S0_T139 on J4402 was completely melted and the pad is gone. Surprisingly this rail does not show as short still (0.445 diode). Besides this damage, I also found a dead short to ground on L7900, which is...
I figured it out. SMC_USBC_INT_L need to be high and it was 0v. Looking over the points on the board that signal goes too, I noticed a small amount of corrosion on the pads for JB200. I cleaned the pads with new solder and now SMC_USBC_INT_L is 3.3v and the board turns on using just the charger...
I fixed the left fan issue. Q6000 was ripped off the board and pad 2 was gone. I ran a jumper and replaced the chip and now both fans run normal. Also it does turn on when you open the lid or press the power button. Still have issues with USB ports and charging. I noticed SMC_USBC_INT_L is 0v...
Ok I started working on this again. I checked and was not getting any pulse on PM_SLP_SUS_L, but I had my doubts it was a PCH issue. I removed U7000 again and checked diode mode values on all the pads and compared them to a good board. I noticed pad 6 and 31 were higher than normal. I replaced...
Both PM_RSMRST_L and PM_PWRBTN_L are 0v. Then when I trigger SMC_ONOFF_L, PM_RSMRST_L has no reaction, but PM_PWRBTN_L goes up to 3.3v for about 3-5 seconds and then drops to 0v again.
SMC_BC_ACOK is actually 3.4v only when just the charger is connected and the board is stuck at 5v. When the battery and charger are connected and its taking 20v, that signal is 0v. I checked the below signals with just the charger connected and then again with both charger and battery connected...
I checked all the traces and resistors in the area and they are fine. I have another one of these boards that is fully functional, and that one also does not have any voltage on MESA_BOOST_EN, but touchID still works. I guess that voltage is not required for touchID functionality. I will assume...
Yea I was able to charge the battery using another board with a dead CPU. Now when I connect this board to the charged battery and connect the charger, I get 20v 0.00a, still does not turn on. PPBUS is 12.7v and PP3v3_g3h is 3.4v with both the battery and charger connected and its the same thing...
I have a 820-01041 that was liquid damaged and did not turn on. I fixed all of the damaged areas on the board and it now turns on and boots fine, but I am not able to setup touchID for some reason. Its not the normal error you get if the power button is not the original one, and there was some...
