Would a bad L8300 cause a distorted image on the screen? Or would it not allow the screen to be "seen?"

So it can have continuity and still be bad?

I have a question: So the schematic calls for a ferrite bead 220 ohm. Is a smd resistor 0805 220 ohm 5% the same?

I notice on L8300 I have 5V on one side and 2.8V on the other. It has continuity. Does this sound normal?

When I put in a different LCD I get voltages. I have 3 new (still in packaging) LCD's never used. Can't believe all 3 of them are bad.

I do get 3.3V at startup on the enable of U8300. So I am guessing that it ain't seeing my LCD's. Hmmm.

FL8300-FL8303 have continuity. L8300 good. Caps C8320 & look good and present.

There is a short power burst on L8300 (5V I think) at startup.

I was changing the screen and think something with the screen was wrong. I witnessed L8300 turn bright red and blow. I changed it and watched it blow again. I did this about 3 times (it was pretty cool). I have tried multiple know good screens (brand new) and don't get any image. Looks like...

Like I said, I ripped the old one out and none of the rivets broke out with it.

Disregard ----- it is the flex cables from the LCD. Goes from working to not working and fuse blowing by moving. Thanks self : )

So I've tried again and everything was working great. But when I assemble everything L8300 blows again (3rd time). Weird.

A long time ago I put a late 2013 LCD only into a 2015 lid and it has been sitting here for years. Now that I install into a late 2013 L8300 keeps blowing. Is it the 2015 lid causing the problem I am guessing. Probably the backlight in the lid correct? So the LCD and lid have to match as well...

I had pulled a keyboard not too long ago and none of the rivets came out. I used the red snips kinda like a nail remover on the back of a hammer. I had to use extreme force for each one. I was pooped afterwards.

This did work. I was going nuts on where to start. Thank you !

3rd LP8550. Same results. All of these come off donor boards though. I may have to wait until the new ones come.

Rodger that. I actually found another LP8550 I'm going to try. Jumping PWM with 3V did nothing.
