Seems simple...... but..
U8400 LCDBKLT_EN_L is missing.
U8400 has power and BKLT_EN_R is present.
I replaced U8400 from a donor but wanted to check in before I tried another one.
What am I missing?
Now that the T2 is jailbroken has anyone cloned a T2 to a replacement chip to repair damaged data lines? I have a board that needs a new T2 due to damage to the sound board data lines.
The Battery was replaced temporally with a new one and the board had the same fault. If the BMS ribbon is connected it will not post.
The fault is the same regardless if the screen is attached or not.
This is strange......
Machine will show 5v on the USBC meter and read 0.01A for a second and reset.
When I disconnect the BMS the unit powers up and works! ( J6951 )
With the battery BMS connected it just bounces and resets. ( I have changed the battery using a tester and get the same result...
I have a 820-01521 that had water damage on the audio board.
The main board looks perfect.
no shorts found.
Unit will enable 5v but will not switch to 20v or boot. Current just sits at 0.06A "nothing showed up on thermal" No shorts found.
The 3v3 on the 3215's is present
The LDO's are...
The SOC U3900 is the only thing running. Soft glow in thermal.
L7690 3.3v is stable
L7670 5v comes on for a few seconds then fades away. Repeats.
L7030 12v comes on for a split second then fades away. Repeats.
None of the other rails appear to come up.
No rails shorts found.
What is SOC...
LCD connector has been replaced. Tried two known good test screens. :(
ohm'ed out the PPVOUT_SO_LCDBKLT. Good signal through the cable.
with the LCD disconnected I diode test the LCD side of PPVOUT_SO_LCDBKLT and get 0.5v
Same as with the test screens. I pretty sure we don't have a...
Yes I have tried two assemblies. I have also measured voltage on the display directly. 55v on both
The 55v measurement on the display was with the backlight unplugged.
Machine came in for no display. Quickly figured out it was no back light.
no evidence of water damage. Everything looks clean.
The back light enable is present, Back light voltage at the caps of the buck converters is 55V (PPVOUT_SO_LCDBKLT)
but there is no back light. Measured...
P_IN is the 5v
AUX_DET is 0 "5v on the other side of R7015
VDDIO1P8 0v
EN_MVR 0v
BMON 0v
CBC_ON 0v
SMC_RST 0v
I did replace U7000 "from donor board" but who knows if it was any good.
same fault condition.
Noticed only 100 ohm resistance on F700,7001
Injected 3v3 and found U7650 glowed on...
USB C amp meter stays on 5v and pulls .01A
PPBUS_G3H is .9V
Man I must be a moron because I am lost on this thing. I can't find any shorts, no thermal.
I can't track down the PPBUS_G3H source. Not sure with this LB
Display was damaged and replaced before it was sent to me. Machine chimes but no image or back light. No external video.
I tried a new display to make sure. Did not see any shorts on the display data lines.
I have a 820-01521 that came in for screen repair now it's on my desk. They replaced the LCD and the machine has no image.
all the rails are present on J8550 Both 5v and the 3.3v are present. Back light is not but I'm not surprised with no image. It does not get that far.
How do I...
I replace memory chips from time to time. I am very successful when I know which chip is at fault.
My question is what do you do when the machine fails a memory test and you don't know which of the 4 ic's are bad?
is there a way to identify the bad chip when no anomalies show up on thermal...
