Just noticed Left shift control and alt are not working. Tested with new keyboard same problem. Checked for gunk in connector and continuity from the connector to U4850 all is good, any ideas?

Tried with another tpad and cable, forgot i had a extra housing. Same problem. TPAD_SPI_INT_L via looked dodgey and sure enough it wasnt making a connection. Patched it up and all working now. Thanks for all your input, would have probably taken me a while to figure out tpad was needed for kb

i dont have another trackpad but i tried unplugging it and still no keyboard, also tried unplugging kb and still no tp

liquid damaged machine, very little areas we're corroded a bit near the kb connector and a tiny bit near the trackpad connector and on the kb backlight. The trackpad force touch actuates but no click is registered and no movement with keyboard only the power button and backlight works...

I just fixed one with the same symptoms, It was corrosion on the powerflex and battery needed replacing

So to sum it all up Desolder chip from boards for reading/writing Backup BIOS and modify if possible else use clean ME region BIOS file for that board Changing serial is a no no Thank you, I feel I have enough knowledge now.

So you can use a chip from a donor board as long as you program it with a "clean" ME region bin file? Are the chips interchangeable between models? as long as pinout and package is the same? Is it right that the clean ME regions are specific to each board so even though it is clean you can...

if SMC_RESET_L is low then smc wont turn on, so not a bad SMC. check SMC_RESET_L resistance to gnd and U5110 for any peculiarities

I've been reading up on flashing the bios and seem to be getting conflicting information if someone could clear this up it would really be appreciated. If you got a machine in without a bios chip is it possible to get one from a donor board? I read stuff like you have to get the ME region...

Check the connector. Does shorting SMC_ONOFF_L to gnd turn it on? Once running does pressing the power button do anything?

Board looks prestine and water indicators are all white. PPBUS_G3H measuring 0.5V and 10ohms to gnd. Are there any common fail points on this board? Removed F7140 and pin 2 measuring 0ohms and 0v diode mode to gnd pin 1 is 0L
