Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Would just removing R3081 be sufficient enough? That would stop the mosfet from activating iirc. (I prefer removing SMD components, components where I have to use hot air on take a bit more time and effort)
Also possibly interesting finding...
I'm just fixing this because its a device I own and honestly I've yet to find a complete dead end.
Thunderbolt is broken on this device, it does not even detect the port.
I took a screenshot on a locally booted version of OS X 10.12, plugging in any devices does not make the devices appear but...
Alright so after installing OS X 10.12 alongside windows (because I knew for sure it was going to fail at some point again) it didn't want to boot into OS X anymore and got stuck.
I let the device cool down for one hour and booted it back up again, which to my surprise allowed it to boot into OS...
Actually, I do have something new.
I decided to boot into OS ASD for the heck of it after coming home and to my surprise it actually booted!
It passes ASD, except that all thunderbolt tests fail.
(66004 Thunderbolt driver returned error & 12114 Cannot find the PCIe capabilities register)
Is...
Well I gave up, tried bootroms as far down as B03 and as high as B22 and none of them resolve this issue
(B03 actually breaks booting from my USB CD-Drive as well but thats probably unrelated as its just really old (2013)).
Tried different ways of importing the ME area as well and all the same...
The weirdest is that it doesn't even have a loading bar, it never progresses out of boot.efi into the actual mach_kernel booting OS X.
All linux and Windows distros work 100% ok but the OS X bootloader just does some weird stuff.
I wonder if it tries to access a device or read out a value that...
I don't have the Medusa 2 tool sadly, I've thought about purchasing one but I'm too busy with other work and life events to actively accept new repairs at the moment which makes it an expensive investment when I might only use it once. (If you have one, could you possibly clean the firmware.bin...
Wrote a new clean ME region (v9.5 Slim) and transferred the firmware configuration over with flash image tool, diagnostic test and everything passes but still no way out of boot.efi
Honestly can't be an ME issue after having both duke and me made a clean me rom. Does anyone have a tutorial or...
Update: After a lot of trying, for some reason, it decided to boot. I opened up the App store and downloaded the OS X 10.14 installer in the hope it would install it and with that update the ROM (It is not running the latest version because its unable to boot or see APFS volumes in the boot...
Sorry for bumping such an old topic of mine, but I actually do still have this device around and never managed to solve this issue!
Tried a different display assembly as well but it still gets stuck after "Root device uuid is(...)", same for when trying without trackpad and battery connected...
Well to start, you have the polarity inverted. Red probe (positive) should go on F7140 and Black on ground (negative) in an optimal case, but for voltage we can just ignore the negative (-) indicator for now.
0.999 m what? 0.999mV? 0.999mOhm?
Let us know the voltage on PPBUS_G3H with power...
Be aware that LM4FS* refers to the microprocessor and not to the actual programming flashed to it.
The longer number most likely refers to version, batch or specification. There is no 100% solid way to know what firmware its running
Those pads came off because they're unconnected, they aren't needed.
Your issue with low to almost non-existent volume is somewhere else. I would recommend first checking the resistance in the output stage of the amplifier, since maybe the audio is just disappearing to ground.
Is the analogue...
Honestly lets just make this short:
Is there anything you can do when the spacebar keeps having double or even tripple keystrokes that does not involve replacing the whole keyboard?
Replacing the keyboards on this is so awful that I might rather just give the customer a refund then actually...
Are you sure they are soldered on correctly, especially their thermal pads? Any chance you damaged them?
Maybe someone else has any idea because I don't understand how these will "burn" (even when under full load they shouldn't be), these do not have a simple path to ground and also the charger...
Lets start with getting PP3V42 back on track
Since you have PPVIN_G3H_P3V42G3H, U6990 should go on and be working. But only if R6995 is properly passing through the signal.
So:
Check R6995
PP3V42_G3H_REG resistance to ground ok?
Unlikely, but check C6991/96 for a short as well
If everything...
You're witnessing a dead PCH most likely, most of these devices that suffer from this issue have a PCH thats getting ungodly hot when you boot up the device.
All the issues are slightly different though,
Some have a PCH that gains heat very fast which means the device will work for 30-60 seconds...
Well that was a quick one, resolved it by reconnecting J4801 as for some reason apple decided to let the trackpad control the keyboard backlight (lmao?)
Hey everyone. I have a Macbook Pro Mid 2016, 13" here (non-touchbar) with a tripping keyboard backlight after top case replacement.
The top case was replaced after water damaged the keyboard and all the components such as the battery and trackpad were safely moved over to the new top case...
I ordered one, Thanks!
While we're at it, any tips for restoring the battery? Right now it shows 16-big integer maximum capacity (65,535 mAh lol, yeah sure) and the battery life is just bad overall.
There are enough replacements still out there but they're all ugly and plastic, any way to buy...
