There was 5V and 0.01A
Board had tiny liquid damage on U8220 and C8220.
Both components replaced and board only had 20V and 0.15A.
With battery connected it was at only 5V.
Replaced U7000 now got 20V with battery at around 1.2A
Board only got 20V 0.18A.
N0 chime, no caps lock light, USB...
Got 16GB board and got donor board with 32GB RAM.
Is in that model possible to upgrade RAM
I know donor board got hynix modules and I will need change resistors on 'CPU DRAM CFG'.
Other than that is anything else what must be done?
Cant find any liquid damage.
Got image, but no backlight.
Tested clients screen on know good A1990 and it is working fine.
Tested J8500 with EDP METER and all diode mode values are correct.
PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT 55V
Tested with known good LCD flex cable and no luck.
When doing "revive device" in...
Lid close:
SMC_LID_LEFT 0.0V
SMC_LID_RIGHT 0.0V
Lid open:
SMC_LID_LEFT 1.8V
SMC_LID_RIGHT 0.0V
Board only:
SMC_LID_LEFT 1.58V
SMC_LID_RIGHT 0.0V
SMC_LID_RIGHT got 0.565 in diode mode.
R4801 and R4805 got the same resistance like on another board
Voltage:
R4801/1 1.80V
R4801/2 0.01V
MacBook had liquid damage.
Audio board was damaged as well.
I manage to turn it on but got some lid/sleep issue.
When plug charger it turns on.
When I almost close the lid I see display turns off (so lid sensors works?) but when I open the lid it think lid is still closed (no caps lock LED...
Display got no backlight.
No Caps Lock LED.
USB mouse light OK.
PRAM reset via USB keyboard is not working.
CPU gets hot.
Tried 820-00163 clean ME fixed SSN.bin but no luck.
Any idea?
All sorted - my "known good" top case was faulty - tested with another one and all works fine.
So in that case U2890 failed which has been replaced and flashed :)
Many thanks for help.
It turned on with known good battery.
I tried to flash U2890 but IC was not detected with IC reader.
I used IC from donor board and flashed with 'original data'.
Got 20V on both ports but wont boot.
Checked voltages on the page where it shows boot sequence and all power lines are OK.
Got...
Cant find any liquid.
When charger connected to one port got 5V and 0.25A.
On another port got 5V 0.24A and the USB C multimeter turns of and then turns on in cycles every 5 seconds.
Checked diode mode readings with USBC meter and all looks fine.
Replaced U3100 which is linked with not stable...
PP1V06_S2SW_DRAM - 0.001 in diode mode and 2.5 Ohm to ground
Removed J7740/1 and R770A to check if U7700 is shorted and it is not shorted.
Because PP1V06_S2SW_DRAM going to the RAM any safe suggestion how to find what is shorted?
Board got liquid damage around JT400, Q5240, CC337.
Found short on PP5V_S2, replaced UP700 and short gone.
Got 5V and 0.04A from charger and I can hear clicking sound on the board - transistor?
Cant locate precise the location of that sound.
Any idea?
No error in diagnostic mode (battery connected).
Tested with original used battery and same issue.
One thing which is not right and dont know if it will be related:
J3300/47 USBC_XA_D2R_P<2>in diode mode 0.004 and should be around 0.330
