Got a board in that has no signs of liquid damage, has magsafe light but no other signs of life. Found F7040 blown, replaced after checking that things around the ISL looked par for the course. Still no fan spin and the smell of something getting hot. Long story short in a rabbit hole removing...
Physical damage to the keyboard, Apple told the client that its a result of the physical damage, one of the usual Apple middle fingers unfortunately. F3050 is good, I will check for a short to ground and get back to you in the morning!
Finally taking this board off the shelf again to see if there is any hope for it. Disregarding all past measurements, as I cannot remember under what circumstances there were taken. The board is getting 0V at F3050 and C3101. I have tried another known working LIO USB C flex cable, and the...
I am curious about messing around with replacing CPU sockets on motherboards and MCP/PCH on logic boards. Also being able to do GPUs if there is ever a good source of chips would be nice. Im looking for a beginner rework station to practice and mess around on. Is it pretty much necessary to have...
Duke spot on with the Q7030/31 replaced both after making sure that the ISL voltages and resistances were good other than PPBUS. Board now recognizes and charges the battery, now onto the data lines! Does that seem like a valid place to look for the temperature sensor error?
Older board that suffered the random no power issue. Replace the 330 tantalum capacitor, board came back to life. Fans would run on full speed, ran ASD and found High Voltage PBUS error and Palmrest Temperature Sensor error. After doing to some researching I disconnected the Wifi / Bluetooth...
I got an A1502 in that had a fan flex cable with a break in it. Simple enough repair, order a new fan, etc. Still no fan on power up however fan works in another MacBook. After testing the fan socket there is no data coming from SMC_FAN_RT_PWM.
Voltage Readings:
Pin 1: 5.01 V
Pin 2: 0.004 V...
I'm working on a A1398 that displays properly on the LCD however there is no backlight. I have measured ~54v coming in to Pin 1 of the LVDS connector. Is it possible for the backlight in the display assembly to blow?
Checking around U7000 I don't see anything that looks visually nasty, however I do have 4 Caps that are shorted to ground or the ISL is shorted. (C7000, C7001, C7006, C7002). All are on the CHGR_LDO rails.
Supposedly worked but needed a keyboard replacement, came in with the bottom hanging loose and pretty much a mess. I think what happened is that the computer was most likely shipped in sleep mode or with a charged battery and now has no charge in the battery and a dead board!
I...
Got a mail in repair for a Retina MacBook, I assume they attempted to troubleshoot no power before sending it in for board repair. It arrived missing bottom case screws and some logic board screws. With a brand new Apple 29W charger and USB C cord it gets no signs of life and nothing seems to be...
Any Ideas? I'm trying to get this repair done for a client and cant seem to figure out what is happening, will not load the os, recovery, or net work boot, also cpu heats up a good amount.
