I am working on a MacBook Pro that had a corrupt BIOS. I was lucky enough to find a dump in the EFI Repository. I flashed the ROM onto the BIOS chip and the computer boots however it is exhibiting signs of a bad ME region. Since I do not have access to the OS of the computer I do not know how to...
Just got in a board that had some heavy water damage to to the board near the LVDS connector. 2 Pins are actually blown off, came in with a green light, after unplugging the battery it would then go from green to orange. Put the board through the Crest and came out with no light on the charger...
MacBook Air board that shows some signs of serious humidity or light liquid damage. Has gone through Ultrasonic cleaning already. It seems to be missing all S3, S4, and S0 rails however the G3H and S5 rails all have correct voltages. Could this be a PM SLP issue
Sorry I should've mentioned that the board had signs of previous repair around the FETs and U4700 so I went through and replaced them as the solder job looked questionable.
Resistance to GND on PPBUS: Starts at 0L then starts decreasing in the 16 M Ohm range
Pin 17/18 U7000: 2.9 Ohms

At first the board had no green light, I injected 16v just after the DC In fuse and had a MagSafe connected and got the green light but no fan or other signs of life. I then replaced the U7000, Q7080, Q7085, Q7030, Q7035, U74000. After removing the ISL I also made sure that all of the Current...
Now that you mention it under the Microscope it looks like someone may have tried to reflow the CPU and MCP. Most likely they F'd it up and it needs the flip chips replaced. Gotta love some peoples attempts to repair things!
The 5 Test points above the Y2810 are corroded, around the LVDS, by the lower SPKR AMP connector, around the sec there are a few. They are scattered around the board mostly near the edges, doesn't seem like spill damage at least not directly spilled on.
Resistance to GND PP3V42_G3H: 4.323 kOhms...
Older board but still good for practice! There is no sign of liquid damage however some test points look corroded. Its been through the Ultrasonic. Nothing gets hot to the touch or even warm.

PP3V42_G3H 3.24v
PP3V3_S5 3.245v

Just got in an old board to practice on, it gets a green light on the charger, no fan spin.
PPBUS_G3H: 12.56v
PP3V3_S5 @ Q7930: 3.325v
PP5V_S3 @ L7260: 0v
Should I be checking where the 5V rail is generated or could it be a SLP_L problem?

Pin 5 U8070: 3.335v
Resistance of L3700: 0.1 ohm
Pin 3 U3740: 3.284v
Pin4 U3740: 3.41v
Most of the board looks like this and I can't tell if its just poor Apple build quality or just pure nastiness but the board has no other issues (yet) so I'm still in the...
Got a 13" Retina board that had liquid damage 8 months ago the client said and now has a flashing folder. Tried a tester SSD and still got the flashing folder. After looking around the board some I see signs of corrosion that tells the story that most likely the PP3V3_S0 pin on the speaker...
Yes I should've mentioned that as well :) F9800 was blown after replacing viola we have backlight, the hunt is now to check the data lines as the flashing folder is white almost like there is no pigment in the screen! "Curiouser and Curiouser" -Alice
Liquid damaged 820-2914 board where three pins on the LVDS connector were blown and the LVDS cable was also burned. The LVDS connector was replaced and now the screen gets picture but no backlight. Traced it back to the backlight driver, replaced the chip with a L8545SQ chip and the board gets...
