Read around that it could be a SSD failure. Anyone come across this?
Gets deceted in Recovery mode, Did Revive and Restore, same error.
Unexpected device state 'Recovery' expected 'RestoreOS' (Probably caused by corruption or panic in the bundle's restored) [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore...
With a spare new battery (Im almost certain its above 50% level) and bare board on bench, charger goes to 20V/0A.
Also, tested with original used one, 5V/0.06A
PPBUS_G3H = 11.66V
Still no SSD voltage and still in DFU mode
No short, no liquid damage. Slight dust.
Seems common issue with this model, but could not narrow it down.
Pulling 5V/0.07A No signs of life.
PPBUS_G3H_SSD0_SNS = 12.3V
SSD_VR_P2V5_EN = 0V
PP3V3_G3H_SSD0_SNS = 3.3V
And of course it has to be a data recovery case, so no DFU Restore :)
U9580 was blown causing PPBUS_G3H short, removed it, noticed 4Ohm resistance on SSD lines.
Replaced U9580, now I see 20V, 0.5A. Fan tries to spin for a second and drops the current to 0A and cycles.
Checked with reference board, PP2V5_NAND_SSD0 is 11Ohm.
Cant detect any other shorts...
Cleaned the oxidation of the touchbar connector. Replaced U3100_X and _T CD3217's twice in case if they are causing it. No other shorts around the board.
Can see it for split second in DFU mode but dissapears.
5V transitions to 20V before cycles.
Thanks for this.
I have replaced the trackpad and its cable. Still that loud fan. Tpad and keyboard are typing well. There was liquid sign around tpad, bbut no visible oxidation. No oxidation on the board either.
Customer reported this happen after a drop. I am trying to start diagnostic...
Got this macbook with severe short on the tpad connector. Managed to drill enough under the tpad connector to remove the short. Now it turns on but cannot enable USB mouse/kbd without loging into the system to extract the data.
Is there a way to kick in the keyboard without tpad connected?
Suggestions for GPU repair? I am suspecting GPU issues as it shows lines for second while loading and goes black screen. Still can hear the background noises. Loads OK in safe mode.
Standard GPU reflow process, or any other advice?
I got this Mac with screen distortion and loading only in safe mode.
Suspecting GPU failure, are we are of any ways to disable the dedicated GPU and run it via the Intel integrated one?
