PP1V8 test point - 1.78V
P3V3_AND_P5V_IPD - 1.8V
PPBUS_AONSW_IPD - 1.78V
IPD_OCP_FLT - 0V / 0.377 which matches a reference board.
This seems ok for a nand gate
My apologies must have misread that line.
Installed a push switch and board back in case. Pressed when attached adapter. I am getting 20V 1A -> 0.5 -> 0.2 -> 0.8 -> 0.2 keeps cycling but never goes above 0.8
With battery and screen when not charging 20V 0.3A-0.5A and loading OS as expected...
R6951/2 quite close values within 4.7K range
R6955 pads no short in MOhm range
Replaced Q6950, same effect 20V 0.7A->0.1A->0.7A...
If battery is empty doesn't even turn on.
Thats a different one I had, not this case. No click or cursor move on that one, just kbd types. Customer took for second opinion to Apple, wonder how that will go.
Looks ok, just strange that its pulsing. Usually, diode modes are steady.
3V3_S2SW_IPD - pulsing 0.3-0.7-1.2
5V_S2SW_IPD -...
I2C_PWR_SDA_R1 - 1.80V pulsing
I2C_PWR_SCL_R1 - 1.80V pulsing
PP1V8_SLPS2R - 1.80V
This with removed D6950 . Charger and batt bare board
20V 0A-0.4A
Assembled and did SMC reset again; battery not detected. Although shows 0 cycles in system report. Must be a comm issue with the battery.
PP5V_S2SW_IPD - 0.07V
PP3V3_S2SW_IPD - 0V
PP3V3/5V_S2 lines present
IPD_PWR_EN_GATE - 0V
This with tpad connected and screen on
Strangely I am not able to turn this board without battery connected. Stays at 5V pulses 0-0.3A
With battery connected charges and runs well, is this something you...
SMBUS_3V3_BATT_SDA - 0.98 / 0.6MOhm
SMBUS_3V3_BATT_SCL - 0.96 / 0.7MOhm
D6950
Looks ok to ground, shall I replace it?
Yeah the diode mode is confusing. Ive seen it marked as 700 for 0.7, so report as digits only?
I am missing PPBUS_AON_IPD_FLT line all the way to UC850.
Measuring its feet I am getting a weird repetitive pulse down on PPBUS_AON - 12.3V which drops for a millisecond to 11.8V and resumes.
PPBUS_AONSW_IPD_EN pulsing to 0.25V
This with a bare board on the bench.
Looking under microscope...
Strange case, had a small amount of liquid around the ribbon comm line cable from the battery.
Cleaned the socket and ribbon cable. Batt is not charging, sometimes pulls up to 0.9A and then drops back to 0.2A
Replaced the battery with spare I had from another A2289 (not new ordered) Exact same...
Interesting case, I got two of these with same fault.
No liquid damage or sign of impact. Trackpad connector seems intact, no prior work.
Tested spare trackpad still no response.
Connected individually to eliminate the other and both Keyboard and Trackpad are not working together and...
These Nands seems to be able to sink 2V 3A happily
Top nand seem to heat up. Dead nand seems like :(
If no short after the top one comes out, can an individual nand be replaced (if I can source same board/model nands)? Then DFU restored or all needs to be paired?
I am following A2485 820-02100 schematic as I can't find this one.
UN480 is a different layout on A2485 LT8642-2 while this layout on A2991 is LT8642-1
GND - 0.23ohm - for reference
VIN - PPBUS_NAND0 - 0.70ohm
P2V5_NAND0_SW - 0.61ohm
If I lift up LN480, I get 0.6ohm on the PP2V5_NAND0...
I went through all coils, only AON lines are low resistance.
L5800/20/40 measures 0.193 instead of 0.367 on a spare board
Q5820/40 measurements align with spare board. only Q5800 is on the low side.
Might not be related but had similar issue where connected screen which had a fault was interfering with DFU restore and after a restore was coming back to lock icon and no internal or external.
If you haven't tried already, attempt with button method and internal screen disconnected. I used...
Came not turning on. 5V 0A
When I opened it a screw came off from Q5800 area. There is a small spark indication on C5844
PPBUS_AON measures 135Ohm. Compared to 2.5MOhm on a spare board.
Cant detect any shorts or under 100Ohm spots, apart than PPBUS_AON. For a moment I got 5V 0.33A with Q5800...
