    820-00165 - Liquid Damage

820-00165 - Terrible coffee damage First time I had to use the USC in quite a while. It's nice and clean now, but a handful of areas were affected I'm trying to work through. The first problem was PP3V42_G3H was shorted. I injected to try and find it... and the board got very hot on the left...

820-3435 - Minor Liquid Damage, dead

820-3435 - Minor Liquid Damage, dead It was actually on when I got it. Shut it down for inspection and it hasn't come back on since. SMC Reset changes the magsafe light, and PPBUS is 8.6v. There was corrosion on U8005, and C8005 right beside it. I replaced both. I have PPBUS, PP3V42_G3H...

    820-00840 20V, 0A - PMIC?

Liquid damage with slight corrosion around U2890, U3500, Q7660. So slight that I thought brushing it off with alcohol would be enough to bring it back to life. Rest of the board looks mint. No traces or pads corroded but I did replaced U2890, U3500, Q7660, Q7680 asa precaution with no change...

820-3115 - Wonky Resolution, bad attitude

820-3115: i7 model This is an odd one I've had on the shelf for probably a year. Sometimes it boots up normally... and sometimes it boots up with a wonky resolution as seen here, detecting the standard 13" display as a "23-inch". I ran ASD just now and it passed. Wtf?

iPad Air 2 - Dead Tristar issue

Just started messing with iPads this week. Did a couple Tristars without problems, until this iPad Air 2. Tristar tester tells me it's bad, so I replace with 1610A2. Plug in the tester, and the flex passes, then the tristar passes. I put it all back together... won't charge or detect the...

    820-01521: Liquid Damage

First time working on one of these, oh boy (Late 2018 MacBook Air). Liquid hit in the U3200. One one USB-C port, 5v @ 0.001amp. The 2nd port would flash on/off/on/off. I replaced U3200 and a couple of the small caps and resistors in that area that looked gross. Now, both USB-C ports show 5v...

    820-3787 : Random Shutdowns

Replaced all 3 6708 chips with new from Mouser. System is still crashing after replacing all 3. This is a DG model... Further information: This unit will freeze, fans spin up to 100%, and then it will turn off completely. It will turn on right away again via the power button, and has no...

Total noob diving in. Today: 8210-2327-A No boot

Hello all! I've been buying and fixing MacBooks (everything up to dead boards) since the fall and my pile of units needing board repairs is growing quite high. I've had all the equipment for about 6 weeks and I've decided it's time to get off my ass and learn. I have been watching videos and...
