Wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before. I keep seeing stains on my boards after running them through my ultrasonic cleaner and letting them dry - looks like this: http://imgur.com/kPMe9Tg.
I use a CP500HT with Branson EC per Louis' recommendations. Is this a matter of not...
I ran this one through another ultrasonic cleaner. It still exhibited the same symptoms, get a green light, and the fan begins spinning faster after 20-30 seconds. I installed it back into the laptop, and miraculously turns on and functions normally, with fan spinning at normal speed. You can...
Liquid damaged board for MBP 13" A1502, plugged into charger, I get a green, then orange light, no fan spin. I measured the following:
PPBUS_G3H: 12.58
PP3V42_G3H: 3.42
PP5v_S5: 0
PP5v_S0: 0
PP3V3_S3: 0
PP3V3_S0: 0
Corrosion/build-up was around U7501 and Q7155. Cleaned up in ultrasonic, but...
A1278 2012 820-3115-B motherboard reported liquid damage. Board looks visibly OK, no corrosion that I see. I get a green light on the charger, and the fan spins normally for 10-20 seconds, then starts spinning faster. No chime, and no display. Bad SMC perhaps?
had a spare A1398 assembly laying around and began removing the LCD. This is what I removed (http://imgur.com/4e2rTBh). Can anyone identify the year of this LCD?
I ordered several replacement LCDs, and I was told one type will work for all models 2012-2014, and the other will work only for the...
With battery plugged in, I get 3.3V on pin 4 of the LCD connector as you mentioned. I thought maybe prodding everything has cleaned up some kind of minor oxidation. I turn on the laptop, and sure enough, the display works - excellent. I put it back together, but no more display - chimes, blinks...
0 voltage on R9010/11 as well. I tried checking the whole 3v3_s0 line, and 0 voltage everywhere. When I plug the charging cord in, the fans do not spin. If I plug in the battery, and turn it on, I get the chime, but no display - not sure if that helps the diagnosis.
Thanks for responding. There is no L9008 on this board - I think that's for the A1278 model, but I think I understand what you mean. The equivalent on this board is L9000, but as I mentioned there's 0 volts going through U9000, so none would reach the inductor L9000. I'm having trouble...
I get 0 volts on pin 2, 3, and 4 on the LCD connector, 0 volts on LCD_PWR_EN on U9000.
Pardon the rookie questions, still learning to reason through a schematic. Next step would be to test wherever LCD_PWR_EN originates?
Louis, big fan, I appreciate all the content you're putting out for everyone to use. It's a big help as I venture into motherboard repair.
Would love some help with a 2012 MacBook Pro A1286 (820-3330-B). It turns on, I hear the chime, but no display:
1) I tried another display - same result...
